Strong Schools Reflect a Strong Community!

At the February school board meeting, Mr. Corey Delp, from the Ray Skillman Auto Group presented the school district with a pledge of $1 million dollars to be used for the renovation of the football facilities at Perry Meridian High School. Dr. Little and school board president Charles Mercer accepted the donation on behalf of the district.

The gracious donation will be used to upgrade the current practice football field to an IHSAA approved turf field that can be used in all weather conditions for football, band practice and competitions and other school activities. This project is phase one of a two phase project that will turn the football field into a true "HOME" field for the Falcons after 45 years of playing their games away from the high school.

Perry Township Schools and the community are grateful to Mr. Skillman, his family and the company's one thousand employees for their dedication to Perry Township and their willingness to invest in our children.

Brian Knight New Southport Principal
Congratulations are in order for Principal Brian Knight. Mr. Knight has been named principal of Southport High School beginning with the 2016-2017 school year. He will be taking over for Barb Brouwer who will be retiring at the end of the 2015-2016 school year. We wish both well.

SHS Principal Set To Retire
Our school board reluctantly accepted the retirement request of long-time Southport High School Principal Barbara Brouwer at the January board meeting. The news of her departure, at the end of the school year, has produced almost more activity than any other story we've ever posted on our district Facebook page. The bottom line is people love Ms. Brouwer and she loves her students, and she will be missed. Ms. Brouwer we wish you the best and we hope to see you as often as possible. And as Ms. Brouwer would say "and as always GO CARDS!

Coat Donation Helps Perry Township Kids

Perry Township Schools was very fortunate to be chosen to receive a very generous donation of approximately 200 coats. The national not-for-profit agency, Soles4Souls, distributes several thousand coats a year to various school systems across the nation. At the request of district Social Worker, Leigh Wilkins, Soles4Souls chose Perry Township as one of the recipients of a large donation of winter coats. Thanks to Leigh Wilkins and Kyle Walke for sorting the coats and preparing them for distribution to our students who are in need of a warm winter coat.
