Strong Schools Reflect a Strong Community!
Welcome back students and staff!  The second semester of the 2014-15 school year is certain to be filled with a tremendous amount of academic success.

Dr. Tom Little, Superintendent
In Perry Township Schools, there is a strong legacy within our community.
Mr. Larry Elliott exemplifies the strong family ties within our school community. Mr. Elliott is the courier for Perry Township Schools.  His career with the district spans 39 years.  As a student, he attended Perry Township Schools and is a proud graduate of SHS.

His driving day begins at 6 a.m., 260 days a year. He picks up, sorts and delivers both US mail and interschool mail/packages at all 20 buildings in the district. Larry is a newlywed!  He and his wife, Teresa, were married in October. They have two cats, Princess and Cookie, and a black lab, Frankie.

“My favorite part of my job is getting out and seeing the people something changes every day.  There are also many sights to see during my travels: animals, weather changes, construction, accidents…even the first snowflake!  The greatest challenge of my work is the weather, but I’m proud to be a collision-free driver!

When I’m not working, I prefer being a passenger rather than a driver so I can enjoy the scenery.  I enjoy local festivals like the Persimmon Festival in Mitchell, Indiana and traveling to scenic, less populated areas like Tennessee, Georgia, Virginia, the Carolinas, Michigan, Florida and California. I love any food that is deep fried and… Reeses!  I’m also a big fan of the Peanuts comic strip, especially Snoopy.”
Larry Elliott

Kindergarten Registration News!
Perry Township is proud to offer full day kindergarten to our residents! Kindergarten registration for children who will be 5 years of age on or before August 1, 2015 will begin Monday, January 5, 2015. To register your child for kindergarten, you will need to visit your child's school office with your their birth certificate, immunization records, and proof of residence (utility bill), and complete the registration paperwork.
Inclement Weather
January, February, and March are often challenging months due to weather conditions. Inclement weather policies and procedures are in place for Perry Township Schools.  The decision to delay or close school is always based on the safety of children. Parents should have plans in place for weather related delays and closures.

The electronic age has truly helped us in communicating with families in an efficient manner.  In addition to phone messages via Skylert, parents may elect to receive email alerts.  Notices are posted on the district website, Twitter and Facebook accounts and the local television stations.

Families entrust us with their child(ren)’s safety and we take that responsibility to heart.
Township Youth Donation Drive
Goodwill Industries of Central is conducting Indiana’s fourth annual Township Youth Donation Drive, January 1 – February 1, 2015. Perry Township is participating in the event. This is a great opportunity to clear out your closets, desks and drawers of unwanted items.

Students, families, staff and community members are encouraged to donate at least two13-gallon bags or copier boxes filled with clothes, books, toys, electronics and other goods to local Goodwill stores. Donors may bring larger items such as furniture, too. There is a competition among schools for the largest, overall donation. When donating, please tell the Goodwill employee that you are donating on behalf of a specific school so that school will receive credit.

The 2015-2016 School Choice application period will be Monday, January 12, 2015 through Friday, February 27, 2015. A CHOICE application should be submitted only if one of the following applies: (1) you are requesting a change of home school (choice school must be on the same side of the district as your home school) for 2015-2016; (2) you plan to move to a different location on the same side of the district and want your child to remain at their current elementary school.

(Home Schools: Clinton Young, Homecroft, Mary Bryan, Southport and Winchester Village.) Applications for Rosa ParksEdison School will only be accepted from residents on the WEST (Perry Meridian) side of the district. (Home Schools: Abraham Lincoln, Douglas MacArthur, Glenns Valley and William Henry Burkhart.) If you have previously applied for the choice program and were not approved, you must complete a new application requesting School Choice each school year. Choice applications will only be accepted for students currently registered at the home school. All incoming kindergarten students must have registration paperwork on file to be considered.
