Please join us this Sunday, August 15th at 10:30 for a re-dedication service of the Meditation Garden at St. Mary's Episcopal Church.

Recently, Jack Wilkey, a young Boy Scout, completed his Eagle Scout project by restoring and improving the garden space just to the north of the Parish Hall.

Jack and a number of volunteers cleared overgrowth, fixed sprinkler systems, laid weed barrier, put down ground cover, planted a number of new plants, repainted the labyrinth, filled in concrete on the labyrinth pad, and installed two new benches in the garden. They also beautified and cleaned up much of the rest of the exterior grounds at St. Mary's.

We will celebrate the completion of this space with a re-dedication service with Jack and many of the volunteers who helped with the project. The service will begin at 10:30, last for 10-15 minutes, followed by a period of fellowship and refreshments with the St Mary's Church congregation, Jack, and the volunteers and guests. Afterward, we will have Holy Eucharist service in the Church at 11:30 a.m., where the Rev. Anne Campbell will again join us as the Supply Priest for the day.

If you would like to bring some refreshment to share that would be welcome.

GO Monday!
October 14th at St. Paul's church
6:00-8:00 pm (doors open at 5:30 for group games)
Our first Go Monday of the season will be at St. Paul's Church (261 South, 900 East).  Please join us for good conversation, food, music, games and prayer!  Our "GO Mondays" are designed for youth in grades 6-12 to gather monthly at alternating churches around the Wasatch Front.

New  Beginnings coming soon in November!
November 8-10 at St. James Church
For youth in grades 6-8
Our New Beginnings weekend is a community building event, not only for our junior high youth, but this event is organized and led by our high school youth.  We also invite youth leaders to join in on the activities and discussions.  Each adult is invited to represent up to 5 youth from their church or community.

During the weekend, participants meet peers from across the diocese and enjoy skits, listen to talks, and participate in small group activities and discussions.  These activities focus on self, friends, parents, siblings, school, and God's love and prayer. If you would like more information, or get involved with this great event, please contact Karen Gleeson at kgleeson@episcopal-ut.org.

“Christ has no body now but yours. No hands, no feet on earth but yours. Yours are the eyes through which he looks compassion on this world. Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good. Yours are the hands through which he blesses all the world. Yours are the hands, yours are the feet, yours are the eyes, you are his body. Christ has no body now on earth but yours.” ~ St. Teresa of Ávila

Guidance Prayer for New Ministry
Almighty God, giver of every good gift:
Look graciously on your Church,
and so guide the minds of those
who shall choose a rector for this parish,
that we may receive a faithful pastor,
who will care for your people
and equip us for our ministries;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Attention Gardeners:
Please harvest the ripe veggies from your plot. Many ripe vegetables have been spotted.

Have a great week and happy harvesting!
How can those of us not participating in growing crops in the Community Garden help?
1) Composting:
You may notice that we've dedicated Box #9 for composting. Please feel free to dump in any plant-based scraps.
2 ) Donate crops from your home garden:
If you have a garden at home and would like to contribute to Food & Care Coalition, you may donate too!
Donating to Food and Care Coalition:
You can take donations to F&CC yourself during normal business hours (see below) or simply ask at fellowship hour if there's someone who can do a donation run for you.
Donation Hours:
Monday – Friday 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Saturday 10:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Please deliver your donations at the east entrance past the gate. Deliveries are received anytime gate is open.
No amount is too small to contribute. They will weigh your donation and may hand you a receipt indicating the donation in terms of weight, which is simply there system. St. Mary's would like to keep track of our Community Garden's contribution over the growing season. Please TEXT  Lon at (385) 448-0678 with the weight, however small, after a donation is made. This is one way we show the Diocese that the grant funds they awarded us are continuing to be a positive force in the world.

At St. Mary’s, one of our core values is that “We care about the communities in which we live, and we seek, as individuals and as a congregation, to reach out to others carrying with us the good news of Jesus’ love for us.”
One of our outreach opportunities for service to the community is our relationship with the Food & Care Coalition, where we help feed the hungry among us. We’ve been involved in it for 30+ years, starting in our own Parish Hall kitchen.
Come and volunteer providing lunch to the clients of the Food & Care Coalition.
We can use help in serving food, greeting clients, handing out sack lunches, washing dishes, cleaning up, and engaging in friendly conversation with the clients. (Children under sixteen are welcome to greet guests with an accompanying adult.)
Contact Steve Nordstrom, Erik Heiney, or Stan King through the church office to sign up to help or for more information.
