Grant announcements - timings
TABS has been in discussion with the DfT regarding the delay in announcing the remaining grant allocations for this financial year. We have been assured that it is just due to processing, and all the grants are ready to go. We have written to senior officials expressing our deep concern about the impact on the industry if the grants aren't allocated asap. We will continue to push for the announcement.

Instructor Training Review
The Bikeability Support Team has undertaken a review of instructor training - please find this available to download here. The report highlights areas for improvement in the current instructor training system. They are asking for comments, via a short feedback survey here. Deadline 9th Sept TABS will continue to engage with the DfT about the review.

Ebike CPD training
TABS has been commissioned by BikePlus (who are co-ordinating a national research project into ebikes) to produce riding and safety information pamphlets and top tips for all deliverers of the shared EAPC programme to distribute to end users. And develop an e-bike ½ day training CPD module for delivery by ITOs to teach NSIs to train people using e-bikes.

A draft set of outcomes and course contents will be circulated to all ITOS for consultation by mid September, with a presentation of the final work at the EAPC conference on 4th October. TABS is interested in hearing from anyone who is already involved in ebike training. Please contact:

We have also written to the AA, IAM and TfL who are reviewing our response.  TABS draft response is here. if you have comments, suggestions please email before 12th August.
