UPDATE:  2017 National Bikeability training conference
Registration is open for the Bikeabiity annual conference on 9 & 10 May in Hull (City of Culture 2017). If you've not yet registered please do so ASAP, as TABS would like to start firming up the workshop allocations - there are only 82 people registered so far. TABS has consulted with those already registered on their preferred potential workshop topics thanks for all the feedback!      For more information and to register click here.

Promote your own Bikeability stories at the 2017 conference!
TABS is hoping to have a 'gallery' at the conference with displays of Bikeability activity. If you have a particular project, case study, example of best-practice that you would like to share all you need to do is send the details (preferably with 1-2 photos) and TABS will do the rest for you in terms of making up a poster display. At the conference you have the choice of whether you want to stand by the display and discuss with other delegates or just let the words/pictures speak for themselves.  Please email All content will need to be received by: Friday 21 April. Also happy to talk through your ideas in advance.
Some examples of posters at previous conferences:
Cycling Development - Amber Valley 2015
Cambridgeshire - expanding the offer in primary schools 2015

Why not take advantage of the fact that Hull is the CIty of Culture this year and combine your trip to Hull with some cultural activities? More details on Hull City of Culture 2017 activities here.

NEWS: ‘Healthy Pupils Capital Programme’ funding announced
On 28th February the government announced a new programme, funded via the Soft Drinks Levy to boost school facilities and encourage healthy lifestyles.  It seems the funding will largely go to Local Authorities to make decisions locally about how it is spent in schools, with single academy trusts able to bid for funding. Further details about this new source of funding here.
Engaging in discussion about Bikeability
TABS is keen to ensure that our members get as much opportunity to contribute to relevant discussions regarding the development of the industry. We meet regularly with the DfT / Steer Davies Gleave and we also have quarterly Board meetings. If you would like to raise any questions/suggestions we would be happy to hear from you – TABS policy re. Board meeting attendance/ contribution here.

DRAFT Funding Guidance & York / London February regional training workshops
The York and London workshops took place on 21st and 22nd February. Thanks to Asgard Ltd for sponsoring the London session lunches. We have issued a short feedback survey for participants.

NB TABS has updated our DRAFT funding guidance document, based on feedback from these sessions. This document is intended to be a 'live' document for the industry - it will need regular updates as funding streams come and go - so will always be a work in progress. If we can add more examples/case studies to it will become a much more valuable resource for everyone. Currently there are various highlighted sections where additional information is required /  case studies would be useful. View a copy of the guidance here. Post your corrections / comments / ideas here on a new discussion link in Microcosm or email:
