Bike to School Week - 1-5th June
In the build up to Bike to School Week 2015 (1-5 June) Sustrans has produced a brand new free resource showcasing some great activities to help make any week a Walk, Scoot or Bike to School Week.
‘5 small steps to something BIG’ includes five classroom-based activities designed to take young people on a journey, exploring the benefits of travelling by foot, bike or scooter, understanding how they can make a change and ultimately be inspired to take practical actions. The activities can be run on consecutive days or spaced apart and can be delivered to a wide range of ages by tailoring the level of detail and vocabulary used. To download the resource visit

Big Bike Revival, 2015
The Big Bike Revival is running between 23 May and 7 June across England (outside London). It is being run through bike ‘re-cycle’ centres and some Halfords branches, and will help people get their old bikes back on the road. People will be taught how to fix their old bike, learn how to maintain it, find out where best to cycle in their local area, and receive cycle training. People can also trade their old bike in or donate surplus bikes. For details of participating centres and further info, please see: Schemes in these areas might want to contact the centres to provide follow-up cycle training information.
