This Prayer email is the second of five during our GBC Call to Prayer week with Bible reflections and points for prayer. They have been written for us by Daniel Beckett and Paul Hamilton. Each day we will think about one verse from Isaiah 55.

Tuesday
We looked at verse 6 from Isaiah 55 yesterday. Today we will focus on the first verse of this chapter:

Isaiah 55.1 - Come, all you who are thirsty.

These are God’s words. God welcomes people who are thirsty to come to Him. When we come to God, we don’t need to have everything sorted and provide everything for ourselves. We come to God because God meets us in our need.

At this time our world is in need, we call out to God today because we haven’t got everything that we need, and we are not able to sort it out with a click of our fingers.

Call out today to God for all those who are in need. As well as a general awareness of the need in our world due to Covid19 and all the associated problems that a worldwide pandemic causes also cry out for people that you know by name.

Pray that God will bring comfort and peace to people who are worried and concerned about when this will end and how they will provide for themselves and their families.

Testimony

To thirst after God is at the root of our being. It's the way God made us. But so often we find ourselves seeking fulfilment elsewhere rather than in seeking God, I certainly know that’s true for myself. I keep coming back to Jesus and His words ‘ "whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within them" (John 7:38). This song always manages to bring me to my knees:  https://youtu.be/BZT8jqsc8lQ   It's not by might, not by power, but by your Spirit God. Please send your Spirit, God.

Prayers
  • Lord, I stand in awe of you.
  • God, I earnestly seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water (Psalm 63:1).
  • Father please bring peace and comfort to all those who are worried and anxious about how they will provide for themselves and their families at this time.
