Opportunities to meet up
It's a lovely sunny day today - and it's a real joy to hear the buzz of conversation from a dozen or so people enjoying each other's company and the refreshments provided in the shade of the marquee just outside the office window.  We are enjoying the slight easing of restrictions that mean more than 6 people can now meet outside.  Do contact Holly if you would like to make use of this space to meet up with friends.
We know that as the months go by many of us are missing being able to physically meet together for worship on a Sunday, but while restrictions remain we would encourage you to think about possible, safe, ways of meeting with some others - even if not yet with the huge Sunday morning crowd of pre-Covid days.
  • Some of you may feel ready to meet in each other's houses (within the two household or rule of 6 guidelines) and could perhaps watch the Sunday morning broadcast in this way.
  • Some of you may feel safer to only meet outside - why not make the most of the lovely weather and arrange to meet up in a garden or a park - maybe on a Sunday afternoon and take the opportunity to talk together about the morning's broadcast.  Up to 30 people can now meet up outside.
All of us can play a part in continuing to be church and worship God together in these challenging days.  Let us know if you have other ideas and if you have good news to share about meeting up to be church with others!
We wrote a few weeks ago about the opportunity we have been given to use the premises at Grace Fellowship (Little Stukeley Baptist Church).  A number enjoyed watching the May Songs of Praise broadcast together there and we are now offering another opportunity for those who would like to, to gather together to watch a recording of the Sunday morning broadcast.  This event will take place for the first time at 2.00pm this Sunday, 13 June. Because restrictions remain (mask wearing, social distancing, no congregational singing etc) numbers will be limited to 30.  Richard Owen and Sue Houghton will act as hosts and will welcome people and also provide refreshments which people can enjoy outside afterwards within the guidelines allowing 30 people to meet outside.  Booking is essential - please do that by e-mailing holly.carter@godmanchesterbaptist.org or by phoning 01480 458565.  Bookings close at 1.00pm on Friday. We intend to provide this opportunity over the next few weeks so we will gauge interest this week and send further info in the coming days.
In the meantime please be assured that Leadership Team are constantly reviewing the situation and exploring all possibilities to enable people to stay connected and, where possible within current guidelines, to meet together in person.  Our thinking needs to be sensitive to the fact that while some people are very keen indeed to be able to dispense with all the restrictions others are much more cautious and less keen to meet indoors or in larger groups when that is allowed.  We expect that a continuation of broadcasting services and using virtual online platforms for some of our meetings and small groups at the same time as starting to explore ways of meeting in person for those who want to, will be the best way forward in the coming weeks.
