Getting Ready!
There is lots to do to get the whole building ready for our return to full use of the premises from 5 June!  There is a lot of 'stuff' to move around and back into its proper place.  There is a lot of cleaning to be done.  If you could offer to help with any of this, please contact Daniel.  Thank you!
Celebration and Commissioning Event
Saturday 25 June | 10.00am - 12 noon
We plan to hold a special event on this day to give thanks to God for the completion of the OIKODOM 2 project, to rejoice together for this refurbished space, and to thank everyone who has been involved in bringing the project from its planning to completion.

We Are Open!
In anticipation of the full opening up of GBC from the beginning of June, we plan to leaflet every household in Godmanchester with information about us and the activities that take place at GBC. Please contact the Office if you would be willing to help with distribution of the leaflets in one or more streets in the week beginning 23 May.
Grace Fellowship
Being able to use Grace Fellowship while the building work at GBC has been onging has been such a blessing.
Praise the Lord!
The question now is how does God want us to use the building once GBC is fully open?
We plan a Prayer and Vision afternoon on Sunday 26 June from 2.00pm - 4.00pm
to pray and reflect on this.
All are welcome.
Please continue to pray for Sheena Glanville and the family.  Charles' funeral will be held at Huntingdon Crematorium on Wednesday 25 May at 2.30pm, with refreshments afterwards at Grace Fellowship from 4.00pm.  All are welcome to attend.
Church Members' AGM will be held at 7.30pm on Monday 20 June at Godmanchester Baptist Church. Further details to follow.
Wellbeing in May
For I will restore health to you and heal you of your wounds, says the Lord.
Jeremiah 30 v17
How many popular songs can you think of that focus on money? Do we talk to one another as Christians and with our neighbours, family and friends about finances and material goods? How we manage our finances is just as important to our wellbeing as emotions, relationships, physical health, and spiritual health. In May our prayer noticeboard continues to use the book by Dave Smith “God’s Plan For Your Wellbeing” focusing, this month, on financial wellbeing. We have also put the information on this topic and previous ones onto our websiteso if you have not visited the GBC building, you can still take part and think and pray about these issues.
Thy Kingdom Come & Queen's Jubilee

An email was sent out last week inviting you to be part of a global prayer initiative called 'Thy Kingdom Come' happening from Ascension Day (Thursday 26 May) until Pentecost (Sunday 5 June) in which each of us commits to praying for 5 people during those 11 days. Resources to help you with this are available from Carolyn and the church office - see the email for details.

Prayer Walk
On Saturday 4 June at 10.00am we will have a prayer walk in and around Godmanchester when we will pray together for the work and people of our community. There will be several ‘prayer stations’, so those with more limited mobility can also join in by car.

The email also provided information on our plans for celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee from Thursday 2 - Sunday 5 June. As part of these celebrations we will have copies of a commemorative book ‘Our Faithful Queen – 70 years of Faith and Service’, to give away to friends and neighbours (Price £1 per copy).
From Thursday 2 June to Saturday 4 June we plan to get involved with Hope Together’s ‘70 Acts of Service’, an initiative to bless and serve our communities with practical help and other kindnesses. And on Pentecost Sunday (5 June) we will celebrate our Queen’s faithful reign at our morning Celebration service and then join other Godmanchester Churches for a joint open air service at 3.00pm on the Recreation ground by the Chinese Bridge.
The programme for the Summer Term Toolbox options is now planned.  The Book Clubs start next week (Tuesday evening, 17 May, and Friday morning 20 May).  Daniel will have copies of the books at Grace Fellowship on Sunday morning and in the office next week - contact him if you would like one.    Do please have a look and contact the office to book in to the various options.
Serving at GBC
The Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve,
and to give his life as a ransom for many.
(Matthew 20 v28)

In 1 Corinthians 12 v12-26 Paul uses the analogy of a human body to help us remember that not everyone will have the same role as we serve in the body of Christ. In the same way, when we each bring our unique mixture of skills, gifts and passions and use them to serve God and each other, we function at our best as the body of Christ.  An email was sent out last week suggesting some of the many ways in which we can play our part - and there are probably many more ways not mentioned. If you would like to get involved in any way, we would love to hear from you! Please email or ring the Office (458565)
Children's Holiday Club
An early notice that after a couple of years' absence we hope to hold the Children's Holiday Club this year from Monday 22 August to Friday 26 August, inclusive. The event will run from 10.00am to 12.30pm each day.
A date for your diary. This year The Mix will be held on Sunday 4 September at St Anne's School, Godmanchester. An opportunity for the whole church to gather together for the day for fun, fellowship, worship and food!  Further details will be available nearer the time.
Community Sponsorship
We are pleased to say that everything is coming together for our second project to resettle a refugee family in Godmanchester. Our first family have been offered another house to rent, so it looks like our Hope Into Action house will be empty over the summer for refurbishing and refurnishing, ready for a new family, possibly in September.
Therefore, we are looking for some short-term help over the summer months
  • A volunteer to oversee the professional redecoration of the house, with support from someone at Hope into Action.
  • Volunteers to keep the garden tidy while the house is empty.
  • Volunteers to work with Sarah Noble to source all of the furniture, equipment and utensils for the house.
  • Donations to purchase some of the furniture and equipment, and to cover the costs of the project over the next 2 years. Donations can be made into the Church bank account using the reference ‘CS2’.
For more information, please contact John Pickersgill (07563 763078), Karen Smith (07863 299545) or Sarah Noble (07723 916585)
Happy Birthday
Birthdays coming up in the next few weeks are as follows

16 May - Andy Blakey
24 May - Rachel Johnson
31 May - Pat Jones
The Worship Area and Resources Room remain out of bounds while the building work continues. Please do not access GBC through the side entrance in Clyde Yard. In the event of an emergency and a need to vacate the building, exit through the fire door in the kitchen and make your way to the front car park - avoid using the fire door in the Worship Area foyer.
Bluntisham Baptist Church is holding an Open Day on Saturday 21 May, with activities and tea & coffee from 11.00am onwards, and at 3.00pm a time of thanksgiving and celebration of the church's Next Steps project.
