This Prayer email is the last of five during our GBC Call to Prayer week with Bible reflections and points for prayer. They have been written for us by Daniel Beckett and Paul Hamilton. Each day we have been thinking about verses from Isaiah 55.

This week we have looked at verses 1, 3, 6 and 8-9 from Isaiah 55. Today we finish on verses 10-11.

As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: it will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

Today we remember that God will accomplish what He sets out to accomplish. This isn’t because He will keep trying and, in the end, it will happen, but it is because He is a mighty and powerful God. As we pray today, we pray with confidence. He is a supernatural God and doing the supernatural is on His job description.

Pray to God thanking Him for hearing your prayers this week with the knowledge that He is able to do the impossible. Don’t be afraid of asking Him for big things!

Maybe you want to continue to set aside time to call out to God each day, or maybe once a week find a time to intentionally call out to God and ask Him to move at this time in our world.

Sometimes I just don't know where to start in my praying. A good thing I’ve found is to flick back through my journal and remind myself of all the answered prayers. Times where I didn’t know how I’d get through, but God had my back. This song reminds me that it's about the story that God's writing in my life … https://youtu.be/zjY26wzFm2U  I’ll testify of the battles He’s won, the seas that He’s parted, and the waves that I’ve walked. My God did not fail; that's the story I’ll tell, it's my testimony!
  • Lord, thank you that you do hear our prayers, and that with you all things are possible!
  • Mighty and powerful God, may my testimony always be that you were there, and that you were my portion - even when there wasn’t enough.
  • May I discern the things that you would have me do, and by your Spirit accomplish all that you desire, bringing your light during these dark times.
A reminder that we will meet on Zoom for a time of prayer together at 10.00am tomorrow, Saturday 14 November.  To request joining details please reply to this e-mail and we will send them to you.
