Thy Kingdom Come & Queen's Jubilee

Today (Thursday) is Ascension Day and the start of the ‘Thy Kingdom Come’ prayer initiative, when we are encouraged to join with many others around the globe in praying for 5 people close to our hearts, to come to know Jesus. We are encouraged to pray every day for 11 days until Pentecost Sunday. Do feel free to pick up a Prayer Journal and Bible study notes on 1 Peter from the Church Office. These go with the initiative and give creative, inspirational, and helpful ideas of how and what to pray if that is helpful. They are free of charge.  There are also Apps available to download on your smart phones which are highly recommended.

We have a number of ‘Our Faithful Queen’ books which you can also pick up to give to family and friends over the Jubilee weekend, to sow a seed of faith. They are £1 each and it’s first come, first served, so do come, and get yours!

If you know primary school aged children, there is also a free story book to give away on the theme of faithfulness called ‘CJ and the Bouncy Castle’ (Cheeky Pandas). Please take as many as you would like – when they’re gone, they’re gone!

Hope Together - Acts of Kindness
Let’s also think what random and intentional acts of kindness we might do to bless our community in Jesus’ name in the lead up to the Queen’s Jubilee. Again, you can pick up a sheet of 25 ideas from the church office, but feel free to make up your own!
On Saturday 4 June at 10.00am we will have a prayer walk in and around Godmanchester when we will pray together for the work and people of our community. There will be several ‘prayer stations’, so those with more limited mobility can also join in by car. Come and join in blessing our community, whether you’ve done this before or you’re new to prayer walking! All welcome. Meet at GBC.
Church Members' AGM will be held at 7.30pm on Monday 20 June at Godmanchester Baptist Church. To include Leadership Team Elections.  A reminder to church members that nomination slips need to be returned to Daniel Beckett, via the church office, by Sunday 5 June.

Getting Ready

From Sunday 5 June onwards our Sunday morning Celebrations will be held at Godmanchester Baptist Church, East Chadley Lane. There is lots to do to get the whole building ready for our return - such as moving 'stuff' back into its proper place and cleaning and we need all hands on deck please. If you can help with any of this, please come to GBC at 2.00pm on Saturday 4 June to join in with a work party! If you can offer any help between now and then, please contact the office.

In advance of the re-opening, we are leafleting every household in Godmanchester with information about us and the activities that take place at GBC. There are still quite a few streets to be assigned. Please contact Holly (holly.carter@godmanchesterbaptist.org) if you could help with this.

Welcome Team:
On returning to worship in our Godmanchester building, we are looking for volunteers to join the welcoming team on Sunday mornings, at both the front and inner doors. If you are interested in serving in this way, please contact Richard (richard@83a.co.uk) or Sue (sue.s.houghton@btinternet.com). Thank you.

More help wanted!
There is an urgent need for help with cutting the grass at Grace Fellowship.  John Stevens is not able to continue doing this on his own every week.  Please consider whether you could help with this and contact John if you can.  johnstevens@dsl.pipex.com
