Volunteer and Donor Appreciation Dinner Update
Over 20 volunteers, donors, board members and staff enjoyed a wonderful evening at our recent Volunteer and Donor Appreciation Dinner.  A delicious ethnic meal was provided, thanks to the generosity of Apollonia Restaurant, Schnucks Hampton Village, and Arber Cafe.  A unique "affordable silent auction" offered an opportunity for guests to purchase handmade quilts, jewelry and more, and raise nearly $450 for our agency!  Special thanks goes to practicum students, Olivia, Sydney and Ruolin, and to staff member Eli Hoxha for their help with planning, decorating and food preparation (including  peeling potatoes!).

International Older Adult Art Show
5:30 - 7:30 pm, Friday, May 20, 2016

Macklind International Senior Center, 1329 Macklind Ave.
St. Louis, MO 63110
Join Bilingual International Assistant Services clients, staff and supporters at a mixed media art show featuring pieces created by senior participants at Macklind International Senior Center.

Over the past year, 25 seniors participated in classes taught by local professional artist Eileen Cheong.  Bilingual International Assistant Services sponsored and hosted the program with generous support from the Regional Arts Commission. These classes were the first time that some of these individuals experienced art.

Refreshments and snacks will be provided at this free event.

In case you missed it...

The Center for Survivors of Torture and War Trauma and Bilingual International Assistant Services, long collaborative partners, officially combined operations on April 1, 2016.  Since the early 2000’s, both agencies have worked closely to help and heal immigrants and refugees in the St. Louis area and to offer assistance as they become successful contributors to the community.

Together, our two organizations will be strengthened, thus better able to face the financial challenges of today and of the future.  By working as one, we will strengthen and sustain our quality programming in this challenging climate and ensure that more of your dollars are spent on direct programming and assistance to refugee youth and support to New Americans.

Going forward, Bilingual International Assistant Services will assume the operations and management to support the programs you have come to know and appreciate.  The Center’s programs shall continue to be run under the name “The Center for Survivors.”  Facilities will continue to operate largely as they have; with only minor differences, if any, in service delivery.

Thank you for your ongoing support to immigrants and refugees. We look forward to forging a new relationship as we take this exciting step.

Did you know that although most of our consumers live well below the poverty level, they still make monetary contributions to help maintain programs they find very valuable?

Your support to assist us in serving these vulnerable populations is greatly appreciated!
