NOTES FROM THE OFFICE

  • It's National School Counselors Week!  Please join us in recognizing Ms. Payne! If you see Ms. Payne this week, be sure to thank her for all she does for our school community.
  • Parents, there are lots of coats and jackets in the Lost and Found.  Please take a moment to look in the back of the gym for any of your child's belongings.
  • Our school has had a few confirmed cases of Influenza recently.  Please read this letter from Nurse Vicki with helpful information about the flu.

IT'S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN: LUMINARY IS LOOKING FOR SUBMISSIONS!

It’s that time of year again…

V.L. Murray’s literary magazine LUMINARY is looking for works of art, poetry, and stories from our creative kids for this year’s magazine.

If you’ve spotted an interesting piece of work from your child, submit it to the office for possible inclusion in LUMINARY! Include your child’s name, grade and teacher along with it. LUMINARY will choose one piece of art from all the submissions to decorate the cover of the magazine. No need to include the LUMINARY name on art as we will add that ourselves.

Submissions are due to the office by April 30 at the latest.

Feel free to email any questions to Caroline Hirst at carolinevt2000@yahoo.com. We can’t wait to see what our talented, unique, fun children
create!

BINGO NIGHT

Our popular annual Bingo Night will be on Friday, March 6th , 6 -8 pm at the Murray Gym! Mark your calendars for this fundraiser event. We need your help!

Awesome prizes are a big part of the BINGO fun! Help us by donating amazing prizes such as gently used board games, books, electronics, sports/ outdoor related items, art and crafts supplies, LEGOs, costumes, video games, dolls, culture items. If you have other ideas for prizes, feel free to donate them. We are excited to see what you all come up with!

To add to the excitement of the event, we are adding a Grand Prize table for the first winner of each game. Some big ticket items for this table would be greatly appreciated.

Merchandise or gift certificates: if you own a business and would like to donate to us, your business name will appear on a sign at the front of the Gym throughout that evening and on flyers announcing the event.

Donation bins are located at the Murray Lobby. Contact Ruei-Jen Abraham-Fan at rjfan2008@gmail.com or 434-906-8115 with questions.

CAMP4REAL KIDS NIGHT OUT AT MURRAY

We couldn’t wait to share the news: Camp4Real Kids Night Out (KNO) is back at Murray Elementary! We’re offering our first KNO session at MES this school year on Saturday, February 15 from 5:30-8:30! Got basketball or other plans the night of Valentine's Day? Celebrate a day later as former Meriwether PE teacher and Camp4Real founder Scott Williams leads the way with some C4R favorites that are both FUN and MEANINGFUL as we teach the kids about various nutrition and wellness concepts! Some come join us as we share what a day of summer camp looks like at Camp4Real as we'll even feed the kids a healthy snack! If that isn't enough, it's NINJA NIGHT we celebrate with some ninja and parkour-themed activities such as Samurai, Ninja Tag, Bull Ride, To Catch a Ninja and more! Register here as early bird prices end February 11!

Our summer camp dates have been released too! There are PLENTY of options on this end of the county at Meriwether Lewis, Brownsville and Miller Outdoor Adventure camp! We'd love to see you this summer as well and remember, ANY KID (ages 5-12) from ANY SCHOOL can attend ANY CAMP or KNO!
