OLLI DONATES CLOTHING TO VETERANS
The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Auburn University recently collected coats, clothes and shoes for the Veterans Administration Facility. OLLI at Auburn partnered with the Martha Wayles Jefferson Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) to collect twenty-five bags and three large boxes of material for the veterans. AUBURN PARKS AND REC HOLIDAY SCHEDULE
On Friday, December 25, all Auburn Parks and Recreation facilities will be closed in observance of Christmas and will reopen on Monday, December 28, for normal business hours. All Auburn Parks and Recreation facilities will be closed on Friday, January 1, 2016, in observance of New Year's Day and will reopen on Monday, January 4, for normal business hours. TOYS FOR TOTS DROP-OFF AT HUFF SMITH LAW
Huff Smith Law is a Toys for Tots drop-off location. Toys can be dropped off Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m.–5:30 p.m. If those times do not work, call and schedule a drop off time. HALFTIME SPORTS GRILL AVAILABLE TO HOST PARTIES
Halftime Sports Grill is under new management and is available for large group parties, private parties and outside catering. It offers two separate event spaces with its own bar and full catering menu. Halftime also provides a delivery option as well. It is located at 156 North College Street. SILVER BELLS AND SILVER SCREENS
Auburn Parks & Recreation will host a holiday movie night at Frank Brown Recreation Center on December 19 from 2–4 p.m. and from 4:30–6:30 p.m. Enjoy a double feature with holiday films, a character meet-and-greet before both movies and candy canes. Concessions will be available for purchase and proceeds will benefit Lee County Special Olympics. There will also be a Toys for Tots box for donations.
 
CO. ATHLETICS & WELLNESS OPENING IN 2016
Co. Athletics opens in January of 2016. It will offer tumbling and cheer classes, as well as adult hip-hop and wellness classes. Registration is open for boys and girls ages 3 and up. Limited space is available. Register Monday–Thursday from 2:30-6 p.m. Co. Athletics & Wellness will be located at 1004 Opelika Road in the old Sikes Pet Supply building.
 
CREATE-A-PLATE ART CONTEST
The Food Bank of East Alabama and Chill Yogurt are teaming up for a “Create-A-Plate” art contest from now until December 22. Children are invited to create a design on a white paper plate and enter the contest for a chance to win free yogurt for a year. Proceeds go to the Food Bank to assist people in East Central Alabama. HUDSON FAMILY FOUNDATION BENEFIT CONCERT
On February 6, the Hudson Family Foundation will host a benefit concert at the Auburn Arena. The concert will feature performances by Justin Moore, Montgomery Gentry, Frankie Ballard and other local opening acts. Tickets range in price from $25 to $60. S’MORE’S AND MORE
Gather around the fire pit on the Ariccia patio at The Hotel at Auburn University for s’mores and hot chocolate with friends and family. S'more's and More will take place every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday in December, except for December 12, from 5-6 p.m. Reservations are required and can be made by contacting Ariccia at (334) 844-5140. HOLLY JOLLY MIXOLOGY CLASS
Enjoy Christmas cocktails and hors d’oeuvres while learning how to master those holiday classics with our in-house mixologists at The Hotel at Auburn University. Guests will be guided through the proper methods of mixing cocktails and have the opportunity to prepare classic holiday cocktails. Guests will receive a special gift to take home at the end of the night. Classes will be held on December 16, 21, 22 and 23. Limited spots are available. Tickets are $55 per person.
