Hit the Hill- Wednesday, March 6th
KATS Call to Action
Hello KATS members. Due to the weather, we were unable to hold our Hit the Hill Capitol Advocacy Day as originally scheduled. However we have a new date of Wednesday, March 6th during National Athletic Training Month! KATS will display information and AT students with the KATS Student Leadership Council will perform emergency response simulations related to on-field emergencies in the first-floor rotunda of the Capitol to interact and educate legislators, their staff and the general public who are in the Capitol that day.
KATS is looking for your help and involvement! We are hoping to have an even bigger turnout and show a strong presence of athletic trainers at the Capital in Topeka with this new date. Our primary message continues to be that every athlete deserves an athletic trainer. We're encouraging individual legislative meetings and will display an exhibit focusing on the AT’s role in concussion recognition and on-field emergency management in the 1st-floor rotunda of the Capital which is reserved exclusively for KATS. The rotunda is a key passage and informal gathering place where we’ll be able to talk to staff members, Capital employees, other groups lobbyists, and even visitors to the Capital that day. By being visible in the Rotunda, we will have contact with people who could be assets to our causes in addition to having focused meetings with our legislators. Let’s fill the rotunda with AT’s and start athletic training month off with a bang!
Actions we need from you are:
- Email Haley Timmons (email@example.com) to confirm your participation in the Hit the Hill Day.
- Go to ksathletictrainers.org/ and click on Upcoming Events to find out who your legislators are and how to contact them.
