Greetings KATS Members!
KATS Hit the Hill Day for 2020 is scheduled for Tuesday, February 11th, 7:30 am – 2:30 pm.  We need your participation!
As we are moving forward with proposed updating of the concussion legislation we need a large presence of athletic trainers at the Capitol in February. Our focus with this update is to define verbiage and require schools to have a concussion protocol in place.  For a brief on this proposal, please click here. We are going to encourage individual legislative meetings and display an exhibit focusing on the AT’s role in concussion recognition and on-field emergency management in the 1st-floor rotunda of the Capitol, which is reserved exclusively for KATS.   The rotunda is a key passage and informal gathering place; thus, we will be able to talk to staff members, Capitol employees, other groups’ lobbyists, and even visitors to the Capitol that day.  Let’s fill the rotunda with AT’s and AT students!!
We will send more details after the first of the year, but if you are even somewhat interested in attending on February 11th, even for just part of the day, we need you to go to this online form (found here) and give us some information. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact KATS Governmental Affairs Chair, Shawna Jordan, at or KATS President, Karen Garrison, at
Your participation is very important to our ability to accomplish things at the Capitol!
Have a restful and safe holiday season!
-Karen Garrison, MA, LAT, ATC
KATS President
