2/26/16 - Taub Center Graduate Workshop

The Taub Center organizes regular workshops for graduate students and faculty in the field of Israel Studies at NYU and other universities in the tri-state area. The regional workshops are an opportunity for students and faculty to present and discuss their respective areas of research.  The workshops also serve as an important forum for networking and strengthening the field of Israel Studies.

Writing the Biography of Yigal Allon

Dr. Ehud Manor is Senior Lecturer in Jewish and Israeli History at the Oranim College, Israel. His books include (in English) Forward: The Jewish Daily Forverts Newspaper. Immigrants, Socialism and Jewish Politics in New York, 1890-1917 (2009); Louis Miller and Di Warheit: Yiddishism, Zionism and Socialism in New York, 1905-1915 (2012); and in Hebrew: Berl Locker – Zionist Diplomat and Optimistic Socialist (2010); Making Peace with the Palestinians (2012)

Avi Shilon

Menachem Begin: His Life and Ideology 

Dr. Avi Shilon is currently an Israel Institute - Taub Postdocotral Fellow at NYU. He holds a Ph.D in political science (Bar Ilan University) and M.A  in Jewish History (Tel Aviv University). Shilon's main research interests are in modern Jewish and Israeli history, with a particular focus on the Zionist right-wing and Israeli politics. His first book, Menachem Begin: A Life, was published by Yale University press on 2012. His second book, Ben Gurion, Epilogue was published by Am-Oved on 2013, and explores Ben Gurion's world-view after his retirement. Shilon also writes for the Ha'aretz op-ed section.
