Implementing effective best management practices (BMPs) to temporary stabilize disturbed soil on slopes should be considered during construction activities to reduce the potential for erosion which can result in polluted discharges.

Adopt-A-Highway Champions

Congratulations to Joint Inter-Agency Task Force West, which has been selected as the Department of Transportation, Highways Division, Oahu District’s Fourth Quarter 2016 Adopt-A-Highway Champions!

The Joint Inter-Agency Task Force West route for the Adopt-A-Highway program is on Farrington Highway from the Kapalaau Bridge to Ku Place.

Eroded Slope Repairs

The State of Hawaii Department of Transportation, Highways Division, Oahu District (DOT-HWYS) has been very busy over the last year repairing eroded slopes along their highways as part of the Permanent Erosion Control Program.

Since the start of 2016 permanent erosion repair projects have been completed at 14 sites, island wide.  If you drive on the H-1, H-2 or H-3 freeways you have likely seen these projects.
