2015 Permanent BMP Training Workshop and Revised Manual

Attention, designers! The statewide standards for implementing BMPs for permanent storm water controls are changing. These new standards are effective October 27, 2015 and the Department of Transportation will hold a day-long training event to familiarize designers with the new procedures.

Misc. Permanent BMPs on Oahu

The Miscellaneous Permanent Best Management Practices on Oahu project is currently underway along Interstate H-3 near Kaneohe. This project will help reduce pollutant contribution to the storm water system.

Slope Improvements for Erosion Control

State construction inspectors have given the thumbs-up of approval to a series of roadside improvements to the storm water drainage system in several areas around Oahu that included the repair of 11 eroded slopes and one eroded outfall.

Congratulations to DOT Highways’ Q2 2015 Adopt-A-Highway Champions!

Congratulations to the Oahu Filipino Community Council who have been selected as the Department of Transportation, Highways Division, Oahu District’s Second Quarter 2015 Adopt-A-Highway Champions!

They have been working hard to keep the two mile stretch along Kalihi Street and Likelike Highway from Nimitz Highway to Kula Kolea Drive free of pollutants and debris.

Here is a list of the upcoming community events that will be occurring over the next few months. Mark your calendars!
Thursday, August 27: The day-long training event of the new statewide standards for implementing BMPs for permanent storm water controls will be held at the Honolulu Country Club.
Wednesday, November 4: The Annual Construction BMP Training Session, now rebranded as the “Protect Our Water” Conference, will take place at the Kroc Center Hawaii in Kapolei.
