Volunteer Opportunity!
Albuquerque Central Region
Junior Academy of Science Director

NMAS is looking for a volunteer to supervise and administer an annual science research student competition in Albuquerque/Central Region. This two-part competition includes judging manuscripts and oral presentations based on well-developed scoring criteria. The Junior Academy of Science is supported by a local grant from Sandia National Laboratories and NMAS funds.

This competition can improve student skills in preparation for college and career readiness.

1. Advertise competitions, distribute contest rules, and solicit competitors
2. Solicit judges from our established list and oversee judging criteria
3. Provide computers and projectors for presentations
4. Set time, place, date, of competitions in conjunction with Science Fair Competitions
5. Distribute prize money and distribute biographies of winners for publication
6. Account for money provided by the NMAS board and grants for student competitions
This is the perfect opportunity to give back to the science education community by working with and supporting students and their science teachers.
