Surprising them with apples & the like...
As you may have suspected, Final Exams Week produces a great amount of stress for students. At the LCC we have developed a tradition of providing breakfast foods all week long in our space. We recognize that students need nourishment in mind, heart, and body.
On Monday of this semester's Finals Week we fed close to twenty students within the first two hours of opening our doors. Only four of those students were considered "LCC regulars." In fact, the others had never been to the LCC until that morning when they received a homemade scone, cup of coffee, or piece of fruit. Every single one, though, was grateful. Many expressed sentiments we notice every semester - delightful surprise at the free food and care of our ministry.
The point of this offering during Finals is not to get more students through our doors - it is instead to share God's love with them through food and to bless them on their way. Perhaps that is what the church of our day and our future looks like - God's kingdom breaking into people's every day lives - surprising them with apples and the like.
Thank you, as always for your support of our ministry with young adults!
