MLP in Action

Lucy is a young girl who moved to Washington state to be cared for by her aunt and uncle. Within a few years, Lucy was diagnosed with cancer. Her aunt and uncle quickly needed guardianship to be authorized to make long-term care and treatment decisions for Lucy.

After reaching out to MLP’s Legal Transitions clinic, an MLP attorney immediately filed for guardianship in their local jurisdiction and worked with pro bono programs to identify a volunteer attorney to handle the court hearings. The family is grateful beyond words. With MLP’s help, Lucy and her family can now make decisions about the long-term care and treatment that she needs.

The Law As Healer: How Paying For Medical-Legal Partnerships Saves Lives and Money
