The Departure of St. Agathon the Stylite

Saint of the Week

The Departure of St. Agathon the Stylite

On this day St. Agathon the Stylite, departed. He was from the city of Tenis. The name of his father was Matra and his mother's name was Mariam. They were righteous and feared God. They loved to give alms and be merciful to the poor and needy.

The thought of monasticism was always on his mind. When he was 35 years old, he was ordained priest, and he devoted himself to serve the holy church. He asked the Lord Christ by day and night to facilitate for him the parting from this world to go to the desert. The Lord Christ answered his request and he went out from the city and came to Ternot (Mareot) and from there went to the desert. The angel of God appeared to him in the form of a monk who journeyed with him and brought him to the monastery of St. Macarius in Scete.

Sydney stabbing attack 'inspired by ISIS'

A 22-year-old man charged with committing a terrorist act following a stabbing in Sydney's west was inspired by Islamic State, police say.

Wayne Greenhalg, 39, was stabbed several times while walking through a reserve in Minto, around 4pm on Saturday. He made it to a nearby hair salon to seek help and a bystander fended off the alleged attacker, Ihsas Khan, until police arrived.

Mr Greenhalg suffered injuries to his body and hands and was treated by paramedics and flown by helicopter to Liverpool Hospital, where his condition on Sunday was described as serious.

Protect the Marriage Act and the Natural Family

Dear Friends,

Please find attached the paper form for our Marriage Act petition. Since we launched the online petition last week, over 5,000 signatures have already been added. You can check the current numbers as well as the signatory list via a link at the top of the petition website:
A big 'Thank You!' to friends and members who quickly got behind this important campaign. If you haven't already, please consider to sign and share the petition online. Share buttons for Facebook and Twitter appear once you have signed. You may also like to forward this email after removing the ‘unsubscribe/update...’ link at the bottom.

This is of course a controversial issue and members may have opposing views. Just keep in mind the party has taken a firm position on this question since we first published our Manifesto in 2014 and noone expects members to agree on every position.
In the attachment is a pdf file with the petition. Please consider to print and collect signatures from those who do not have internet access, but may want to have their voice heard. Especially elderly Australians in retirement homes may like to have a say, but are are often ignored.

Kindly return the second page of the petition with signatures to the party office. The first page has both the preamble and petition text in larger print for ease of reading, it stays with you.

If you haven't done so already, please join me in supporting this important petition.
 Yours in Liberty,
Kirralie Smith
