That there should be no schism in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another. (1 Corinthians 12:25)

A true, meaningful story
An anthropologist showed a game to some children of one of the primitive African tribes. He placed a basket full of delicious fruit near the trunk of one of the trees. He then said, "The first child who reaches the tree will have all of what is in the basket."
He then gave them the signal to start. However, he was surprised to see them walking hand in hand until they reached the tree and shared the delicious fruit. When he asked them why they did that, (while everyone of them could have had the basket just for themselves) they surprisingly answered and said, "Ubuntu." How can one of us be happy while others miserable?"
"Ubuntu" in Xhosa's civilization means, "What I will be, we will be."

That primitive tribe knows the secret of happiness, which is lost in other societies; who consider themselves as more civilized and look down to the others.

Saint of the Week

The Feast of Transfiguration of Our Lord on Mount Tabor
On this day, the church celebrates the commemoration of the transfiguration of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Mount Tabor. The disciples, Peter, James and John, were with Him, and about whom the Lord said, " .... there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see the Son of Man coming in His Kingdom." (Mt. 16:28) He fulfilled His promise, for six days later, He took His three disciples, up on a high mountain, where He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as light. And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them talking to the Lord.

Words with Meaning
By Fr Abram Abdelmalek
  • If you wanted to receive the inner peace, mute your lips and keep your ears closed.
  • Peace is a great treasure, appreciated only by those who lost it.
  • That Who does not accept your outstretched hand of peace, may come back to you later on to kiss it.
  • Some people may have long patience for war, but in peace, their patience runs out quickly.
  • As much as you exert effort to stablish peace, as much as you save your children the bloodshed.
  • A peaceful man is more appreciated than a scientific man.
  • You cannot mix social relations and peace.

Australian Family Association

Hi Fr. Abram,

As you know the AFL is to hold a gay “Pride Match” onAugust 13. The AFL’s Respect and Responsibility Vilification Framework calls for social inclusion of a wide range of groups and promotes player, club and community education programs to counter “vilification”, which it defines as:

Acting towards, speaking in a manner, or engaging in any conduct which threatens, disparages, vilifies or insults a person on any basis but not limited to, a person’s race, religion, colour, descent or national or ethnic origin, special ability/disability or sexual orientation, preference or identities"

As a matter of justice, nobody should be discriminated against on any of these grounds. All people should be respected regardless of their race, or whether they are gay, or religious people, or people with no religion.
