The departure of Saint Anba Bishoy

On this day, St. Bishoy, whose memorial is honorable, the star of the desert, departed. He was born in a town called Shansa in Egypt, and he had six brothers. His mother saw an angel in a vision saying to her, "The Lord says to you, give Me one of your children to serve Me.She answered, "Lord, take whoever you want."

Words with Meaning
By Fr Abram Abdelmalek
  • Don't despair if you lose a battle, the war is ongoing.
  • Don't cry over spilled milk – start cleaning.
  • Despair is when someone feels they no longer have any value.
  • Iron sharpens iron and fire fights fire. However, hope and positivity combat despair.
  • If you feel like you are drowning from despair, remember that mountains were once under the waters of oceans and seas.
  • Be assured that as there is the calm before the storm, likewise, there is after the storm.
  • When the will is weakened, the mind gets tired. Hence, when the mind is tired, the body gets weakened.

4 Tools to Help You Stay Calm with Your Difficult Child Change your perspective

By Debbie Pincus, MS LMHC

The developmental task of teens is to experiment with new roles and relationships. It’s scary and frustrating for us, but this is what is natural for their development. Breaking rules and testing limits helps kids to learn the laws of sowing and reaping. It helps them learn from their own experiences. This is natural and normal. Our job is to guide them to better behavior by offering them natural consequences, not to blame them for their behavior.
Identify your feelings. When you are about to let off steam, pause and identify your feelings. Is it irritation, frustration, hurt that’s bothering you? Name it; identify it as your own. Say to yourself, “When I see my kid doing X, Y or Z, I feel ____ because I ____.”
