Saint of the Week

The Assumption of the body of St. Mary
On this day, was the assumption of the body of our pure Lady St. Mary, the Mother of God. While she was keeping vigil, praying in the Holy Sepulchre, and waiting for the happy minute of her liberation from the bonds of the flesh, the Holy Spirit informed her of her forthcoming departure from this vain world. When the time drew near, the disciples and the virgins of the Mt. of Olives (Zeiton) came and the Lady was lying on her bed.

Words with Meaning
By Fr Abram Abdelmalek
  • Negativity and failure are twins.
  • Fear is the father of negativity & failure is its child.
  • Negativity and public work do not mix.
  • Fear is the first enemy for men.
  • Negative images needed development in old school photography, what would a negative person need?
  • They define darkness as the absence of light. Additionally, falsehood is the absence of truth. This is to say that negative things cannot be defined without their positive counterpart.
  • A negative person will try to find a problem for every solution, to the contrary of the positive person who will try to find a solution for every problem.

The most reputable countries in the world

Australia ranked four among the most reputable 55 countries in the world.

Talking points for you on transgender...

Recently, 60 Minutes and the ABC’s Australian Story program featured sympathetic profiles of kids transgendering, while the Olympics now accepts trangender athletes.
A La Trobe university law lecturer has published a guide to transgendering, particularly for young people; the AFL has a football policy to include transgenders; and you may be (un)surprised to know that there are about 75 agencies in Australia and NZ counselling for transgender.

A response:
Transgender is like anorexia:  Moira Fleming is a social worker suffering from anorexia eating disorder. She contrasts how anorexia is treated as a psychological disorder, while transgender is celebrated and treated as normal. Fleming says that both anorexia or transgendering are driven by a mismatch between the person’s brain and their body, “a wrenching awareness of what it feels like to be disconnected from your body, to hate with every fiber of your being the way you look in the mirror…”
