Premier League: Arnautovic wants to leave West Ham

Marko Arnautovic has admitted he is ready to leave West Ham to play in the Champions League, with the Austria forward determined to compete at the highest level possible before his career is over. Arnautovic, who moved to east London in the summer of 2017 from Stoke for a then club record fee worth up to £25m, has been in outstanding form since being handed a more central role by former manager David Moyes last season, and scored 11 Premier League goals last term. He has continued to impress this season having already found the net five times in 10 matches despite West Ham’s early struggles under Manuel Pellegrini. But while he has previously insisted he is happy at West Ham, Arnautovic – who is represented by his brother Danijel – has acknowledged that he may never have a better chance of securing a move to one of Europe’s top clubs. “I’m 29, so that’s the best age,” he told the Austrian newspaper Kurier. “It’s clear that I want to compete with the best players. But in this affair I totally trust my brother.” (Guardian)

Premier League: Man City to extend contract for Phil Foden

Phil Foden has signed a new long-term contract with Manchester City, a source familiar with the negotiations told ESPN FC. The 18-year-old midfielder is highly regarded by City boss Pep Guardiola and is set to receive a significant pay rise in the new deal, although the actual terms are unknown. Borussia Dortmund and Juventus were reportedly monitoring Foden's situation as he entered the final 18 months of his current contract. But he has now killed off any hope the European giants had of signing him by putting pen to paper on a new long-term deal at the Etihad Stadium. Foden has been with City since the age of five and is also a lifelong fan and made his first derby appearance in Sunday's 3-1 victory over Manchester United. Mexico will miss Messi in upcoming friendly with Argentina

Mexico defender Edson Alvarez has expressed his disappointment his side won't be facing Lionel Messi in Friday's friendly against Argentina. El Tri will take on the Albiceleste in Cordoba on Friday, before the two sides play again on Tuesday in Mendoza. Though Argentina will bring plenty of attacking talent to the pair of home friendlies, the Barcelona star will not be with the side once again, continuing his post-World Cup hiatus. "It would've been really nice to face Messi," Alvarez said in a press conference Wednesday. "But his health comes first. Personally, it would've great to play against him." (Goal)
