May Highlights

We are finishing the year with music for the Modern Era of Music.  There is no dominant style for the 20th century.  It is modern "classical" form,  Blues, Boogie, Jazz, Rock....  There is an exploration of electronic music and a plethora of new and unusual instruments. In fact,  modern musicians are not much different than musicians since Bach's time.  They are looking for their own sound and trying new things or trying to please the public.

The Recital is June 11th.  Please mark your calendars.  Most students will be playing something "classical" as well as a piece from the modern era.  Boogie, rock and show tunes....  Let me know if you have a favorite.

Most of my students are very confident performers.  But if you have concerns...  please let me know.  Also,  look at the link below for helpful ideas to overcome these concerns.

I will be sending a separate email with details about the recital.

Come To The Fun Fair

On May 20th  I will have a booth at the Bonnie Brae Fun Fair.  Please come and play for the group at the Fair.  This will give you extra practice time in a more casual venue.

We are there 6 - 8 PM.

Let me know if you plan to come.

It should be fun. This is a fund raiser for the school and I will be promoting The Melody House.  They will  have a moonbounce, cake walk and other activities for families. They also have food. Last year it was hot dogs and a Red Hot and Blue table.
Several of you have asked for help finding a new or used piano.  This can be a very personal choice and can that some thought and preparation.  Things to consider:
  • How much do you want to spend?
  • What fits into your life style and space?
  • Do you want new or do you love the sound of old wood?
  • Acoustic or electronic?
Let me know if I can help you.  Below I have a link to a couple of tuner/technicians that can help you with your decision.
