Healthy Tips to Improve Your Quality of Life

The Balanced Body
Simple and Natural Solutions for Healthy Living.

A Note from Jennifer

Dear Tai Chi and Massage Family,

I hope you had a wonderful holiday season and your New Year is off to an amazing start.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank each of you for being a part of my life. Master Jou always told us to "have a little adventure" and encouraged me to become a massage therapist and Tai Chi instructor. Thanks to both Master Jou and all of you, my "little adventure" has grown into a marvelous lifestyle and career. I'm delighted to say my exciting path of learning, growing, and sharing still continues.

May you enjoy "a little adventure" in your life.

Peace and love,

"The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance."

- Alan Watts

Eating and Qi

Our food choices and eating styles directly affect our bodies. Quality food and mindful eating are an important component to vibrant health.
Eating a poor diet full of processed, denatured, reconstructed, reconstituted, and additive laden foods will reduce your health and resistance to disease. Imagine all the energy/Qi required to extract what little nutrients are left in these "dead" foods. Instead of energizing you, poor diet choices will leave you feeling depleted.

Habitually eating too fast, late in the day, or at irregular times will contribute to unbalanced Qi and poor health. Eating while distracted, multi-tasking, stressed, angry or anxious also has a negative affect on you. When your mind perceives stress, however minimal, your digestive system slows or may even shut down.

Here are some healthy suggestions to consider when you eat:
  • Eat local and seasonal produce whenever possible. Remember our bodies and nature are connected and you will ingest optimal Qi from eating this way.
  • Drink clean, chemical free water and stay properly hydrated.
  • Create a calm, mindful environment without distractions to eat your meals.
  • Make long range, healthy food and beverage choices.
  • Slow down, notice, and enjoy the smell, color, texture, and taste of your food.
  • Chew thoroughly.
  • Be grateful.
Mealtime is one of the best opportunities to ground and balance yourself. Happy, healthy eating!

Happy Chinese
New Year!

Chinese New Year, also know as Spring Festival, is the most important traditional holiday in China. The 2017 Chinese New Year begins on Saturday, January 28, 2017.

This is the year of the FIRE ROOSTERS, who are said to be trustworthy, responsible at work, and have a strong sense of timekeeping.

People born in a year of the Rooster are very observant, hardworking, resourceful, courageous, and talented. Roosters are very confident in themselves and are always active, amusing, and popular within a crowd. Roosters are talkative, outspoken, frank, open, honest, and loyal individuals. They like to be the center of attention and always appear attractive and beautiful.

People born in a year of the Rooster are typically healthy people. Even when they do become ill, they feel better quickly. Roosters are a little sensitive, and they feel stressed and moody at times.
