PRAYERS FOR THE NATION ON THURSDAY, JULY 4 AT NOON
In lieu of our regular noon service of Holy Eucharist, we will celebrate the July 4 holiday in a service of prayer for our country and readings from diverse voices from our history. We are enjoined in the Book of Common Prayer to pray regularly for our country, its leaders, and its high calling. The celebration of Independence Day seems like a fitting time to focus our prayers on liberty and justice for all.

Just for fun! Join Pastor Kay at Peters Canyon Regional Park (http://www.ocparks.com/parks/peters)
on Saturday, July 6, at 8 a.m. We’ll meet in the parking lot – parking is $3 unless you have an annual pass. The plan is to walk the length of the park and back, which takes about two hours. You can make your hike shorter if you like.
Recommended: sunscreen, plenty of water, a protein bar or some kind of snack, hiking boots or walking shoes with good tread
We might also go to breakfast afterward if folks are interested.

THE WAY OF LOVE Wednesday, July 10 - 7:00 pm
I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. – Ephesians 3:17-19
Presiding Bishop Michael Curry invites us to participate in an ongoing spiritual practice known as “The Way of Love”. Through it, we examine 7 practices that are meant to help us develop a way of life around those practices. St. Paul’s Way of Love meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month at 7:00, in the earth Chapel. We begin our time together with 20 minutes of silent contemplative prayer. This summer we are discussing portions of Seven Thousand Ways to Listen by Mark Nepo. It is a challenging look at the way the spirit moves among us. We end with Compline. Our time together includes rich discussion and support for our individual spiritual journeys. Please consider joining us. Our next gathering is Wednesday, July 10. GAMES ON THE LAWN Sunday, July 21 from 11:30-1: 30 pm
It's time to play! Join other families for a picnic lunch followed by some old classics like gunny sack races, parachute games, egg toss, and of course concluding with a water balloon toss. Activities provided for ages 11 and under. If you have kids older than 11, I'd love to have them as my helpers to fill water balloons! RSVP HERE to attend or to help with lunch or activities.
