SUMMER AT ST. PAUL'S STARTS WITH PENTECOST

This Sunday, on Pentecost, the birthday of the Church, we’ll have one Sunday service at 10:5 a.m., as well as the Saturday service at 5:00 p.m. This will be our weekend schedule all summer.

On Pentecost, we’ll follow worship with a potluck, games on the lawn, and a chance to celebrate together over good food!

The choir with present a beautiful concert on June 4 at 5:00 p.m. - please attend, invite friends, and enjoy some really marvelous music!

Following the choir's final Sunday on June 11, we will continue to have wonderful music that’s less formal, with a lighter texture, often featuring soloists from our congregation.

On June 10, the quarterly Episcopal Mens’ Breakfast will feature tasty food, as usual, and our guest will be Leeav Sofer, a longtime friend of St. Paul’s. Leeav is a singer, a leader of a klezmer band (Mostly Kosher), and a leader in a project called Urban Voices. Urban Voices is a vocal music project on Skid Row, where working together to make music can truly change lives. A new grant means that Urban Voices will be coming to Orange County! Leeav will speak about this project, and sing for us - not to be missed!

On June 24, Bishop John Taylor will preside and preach in downtown Santa Ana with the Episcopalians and others gathered to celebrate Pride OC. Please consider attending the Eucharist, marching in the parade in your LOVE. T-shirt, and serving a shift at the Episcopal Church booth at the festival. The good news of God’s inclusive love is more important to share than ever.

On June 25, we’ll wrap up Pride weekend with Pride Sunday at St. Paul’s! Our guest preacher will be The Rev. Canon Susan Russell, whose resume in diocesan and national church work on issues of inclusion is extensive. We’ll publish a lengthier biography closer to the date, but please plan to be there, and to be fabulous!

But wait, there’s more! On July 1 and 2, our worship service will focus on Independence Day, with readings from American history, our poets, and our prophets. We will pray for our country and sing the hymns that call us to our best and highest values.

Watch for announcements about Adult Education, Youth Group activities, and children’s activities throughout the summer.

BEGINS WEDNESDAY, MAY 10 AT 7:00 PM
This class is for you! This class will introduce the Episcopal Church, and our approach
to Scripture, worship, sacraments, and living a life of faith. For four Wednesday
evenings beginning on May 10, this Zoom class will answer some of your questions,
raise more, and help you to understand why and how the Episcopal Church
understands its call to follow Jesus. Bring your questions, your story, an open mind, and
an open heart!   Please join us!

The idea of a “still mind” appeals to us in the midst of our frenetic world.  Yet the quest for stillness, for many, seems like the impossible dream.  In this five week class we will explore the causes and the cure for the distracted and chaotic mind.  When the mind is quieted we can enter into an authentic and peaceful relationship with ourselves and our world.  We begin to live deeply connected to our soul and experience the Holy.  Each week we will explore various practices that can move us forward in our personal journey to stillness and our awakening to the Divine within.

"LIVING THE QUESTIONS" CONTINUES ON THURSDAYS
PARISH HALL - B AT 10:30 a.m.

During Easter season, the Thursday morning class will watch the final third of video presentations called "Living the Questions", which we started watching in the fall. The final third of videos is gathered under the title "Transformation," which feels appropriate for Easter!

THIS WEEK:
Embracing Mystery - May 25

Overall, this series has given us great food for thought, and helped us with language and practices for a progressive, open-hearted Christianity that is non-dogmatic, mystical, and relational. The best and brightest theologians participate in these engaging conversations. Our class discussions are consistently rich and provocative.
Please join in!

We pray for …

Those who are afraid, lost, and in the midst of turmoil of spirit and mind as we remember those in need of God's healing presence, in illness, grief, and during challenging times.

Members of our parish who are recovering from surgery, undergoing extended treatment, expecting new life, traveling, raising families, caregiving, experiencing addiction, or in financial difficulty.

Our teachers, students, staff, vestry and other leaders, and our preschool community.
Give them courage and strength during the days ahead; may they know your love and grace.

Gracious God, we entrust all who are dear to us to your never-failing care and love. Guide us so that we may reflect your love and grace to the world. Amen.

This week we pray for these members of the parish: Kim & John Keelin, Katie & Bill Keichline, Frank Keilt & Candy Lewter, Iman Khosrowpour, and June Kowalski.
