Please plan to join the St. Paul’s Community in our observance of Holy Week. We have planned Facebook Live events, videos, and a Zoom meeting, and we’re delighted to invite you to return to in-person worship on Easter Sunday, April 4!
This week is the church’s solemn observance of the last week of Jesus’ life, culminating in the Three Great Days (Triduum), Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday (Easter begins on Saturday night at sunset). The stories from the Gospels come alive in our worship, as we gather for a meal on Maundy Thursday, pray and lament before the cross on Good Friday, and celebrate the principal feast of the church year on Saturday night. Please plan to join in for as many of the services as possible.
The stories and services of Holy Week remind us not only of Jesus and his courage and hope in the face of violence, but of our own identity as Easter people. We remember each year that, in the darkest times, God’s work in the world is always transformation and resurrection. We remember our baptismal promises as we emerge from the dry wilderness of Lent, and light a new fire that will burn to ash the things we leave behind.
We gather on Zoom at 6:00 pm to share a service of blessing and eating together. Following the service, we will split into small groups in order to enjoy an agape meal which you are invited to prepare at home, or order from your favorite Middle Eastern restaurant. Please have wine or some festive beverage and bread available for the meal.
In addition, we have arranged for meal selections with Christakis Greek Restaurant in Tustin to make your Maundy Thursday authentic, delicious, and easy. You can call to place your order in advance and pick up at 13011 Newport Ave, Tustin 92780 located in Lafayette square near St. Paul’s. You can order our suggestions, or anything available from their menu. To place your order call 714/731-6600 or via email: christakisgreekcuisine@gmail.com. Orders can be picked up early.

PRAYERS
God of those who always expect a happy ending; God of those who no longer do: our faith is not here primarily for the good times, to assure us we deserve whatever life we have. It is always here so that it is also here for moments when the ending is in doubt, when answers are not clear, when what seems truly certain is an uncertainty in this world. Give us faith to believe, not in the guarantee of a happy ending but in the continuation of a story which always answers with good news. Amen. - https://www.corrymeela.org/news/180/prayers-for-community
Almighty and everliving God, in your tender love for the human race you sent your Son our Savior Jesus Christ to take upon him our nature, and to suffer death upon the cross, giving us the example of his great humility: Mercifully grant that we may walk in the way of his suffering, and also share in his resurrection; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. - Book of Common Prayer page 272
This week, we remember those among us who suffer the pain of illness, fear, or loss, especially; Sue, Sylvia, Royce, Doriel, Holland, Mary, Sally, Donna, Colleen, Bob, Susan, Ralph, Kathryn, June, Henry, Bob, Melinda, Jean, Patti, John, the Penn family, Fran, Katie, Alfred, Bud, Chris, Leonard, and Jan.
We pray for all those who are ill, for those who grieve, and those facing difficult decisions about limited resources. We remember healthcare and emergency workers, those who have lost their livelihood, those who are alone, and those who are afraid. Give them courage and strength during the days ahead; may they know your love and grace. Amen.
This week we remember the following members of our parish:
Hideko Harris
Steve & Shelly Harris
Valerie Hart
Steve & Diane Henrotin
Henry & Vicki Hernandez
Patty Hicks
