In August FY18, USAID added up to $773 million in newly forecasted funding opportunities to the Mission Forecast. Analysis of the larger of these anticipated opportunities is included below.
Burma is anticipating a total of $75M to $150M split among three newly forecasted opportunities. The Agri-Food System Support Activityis a $25M-$50M cooperative agreement in the Economic Growth and Trade sector. The second of the anticipated opportunities is the Economic Reform Activity. The goal of this $25-$50M contract is to advance economic governance and reforms to support Myanmar’s political and economic transformation. The final opportunity is under the Global Health sector is the HIV/AIDS Activity cooperative agreement for $25M-$50M. The main focus of this activity is to support the development of “incubator” innovations and service delivery approaches to inform higher level technical assistance linked to policy and guideline shifts that ultimately support the scale-up and impact of HIV programming and resources.
Mozambique is forecasted to receive $60M to $125M in three new funding opportunities, all within the Global Health sector. $25M-$50M is forecasted to be allocated to the Quality Health Services Intitativecooperative agreement. This program aims to support Mozambique to improve maternal, neonatal, and child health (MNCH) outcomes. Awardees will assist Nampula in establishing themselves as a model province for MNCH health services in a sustainable manner, as well as assisting the central Ministry of Health (MOH) to incorporate the lessons learned into a national system. The second cooperative agreement forecasted for August is the Transforming Nutritionprogram. This $25M-$50M flagship activity will support the development of a comprehensive multi-sector approach to nutrition through programming modeled in select Districts and Communities in Nampula. The final forecasted opportunity in Mozambique is the Community HIV Activity in Zambezia. This $10M-$25M cooperative agreement is to improve HIV treatment, nutrition, and general health outcomes and livelihoods for children, women, and families in Zambezia, Mozambique. Competition is limited to local (Mozambican) organizations.
Afghanistan is forecasted to receive a $50M-$100M contract in the Economic Growth and Trade sector. Awardees of the Air Export Program (AEP) opportunity will provide technical assistance, transactional support and other services to Afghan ministries, airport authorities, and private sector to facilitate exports through improvement of services in major Afghan international airports.
Pakistan is anticipating $35M-$75M in newly forecasted opportunities. The first of these opportunities is the Pakistan Youth Development Project (PYDP). This $25M-$50M cooperative agreement will work to prepare youth for workforce participation by focusing education on skills acquisition and civic engagement, as well as supporting the youth emerging from training programs to identity employment opportunities or pursue entrepreneurial ventures. The smaller of the two contracts is the Communications Outreach Project worth $10M-$25M in the Management sector.
