In December FY2017, USAID added up to $513 million in new opportunities to the Mission Forecast. Below is a breakdown of the top sectors and countries for these new forecasted opportunities.
Lebanon anticipates a $50M - $100M Economic Growth & Trade IDIQ. The Community Support Program aims to support municipalities and underserved and vulnerable communities in providing better services and enhanced economic opportunities to improve lives and reduce tensions that contribute to conflict and violence, primarily in Lebanon’s North, South and Bekaa regions.
Ukraine anticipates a $50M - $100M award, entitled OEG: Donbas Economic Prosperity Program (DEPP). The purpose is to increase stability in Eastern Ukraine by facilitating an economic transformation in the Donbas in which new businesses develop in industries with growing prospects; old businesses direct their energies toward new and growing markets; the small business community expands and diversifies and has an active roll in local policy formulation; citizens develop skills for the jobs of the future; and the economy of the Donbas is more closely integrated with the national economy of Ukraine.
Egypt is forecasted to receive a total of $50M - $100M in new opportunity funds. The Economic Security, Regional Business, and Trade Development Project is a $25M - $50M contract, which aims to assist the government of Egypt undertake economic reforms, and to assist SMEs to build the capacity to take full advantage of new trade opportunities created by those reforms. Egypt also anticipates $25M - $50M in funding for the Feed the Future Egypt Value Added Solutions (EVAS) contract. This new activity would build on USAID's investments in assisting Egypt's small farmers to export horticulture produce that meet international standards.
Peru anticipates four Environment & Climate Change awards totaling $40M - $100M. Each award is $10M - $25M. 1) Amazon Knowledge and Learning Platform contract; 2) Promotion of Best Environmental and Social Management Practices contract; 3) Representation of Indigenous Peoples in Governance of Amazon Forests and Waters cooperative agreement; 4) Securing a Sustainable, Legal, Profitable and Inclusive Forest Sector contract.
Democratic Republic of the Congo is forecasted to receive three awards totaling $12M - $30M in funding for new opportunities. Each award is valued at $4M - $10M. 1) USAID-Funded Community-Based Counter Wildlife Trafficking Activity, an Environment & Climate Change cooperative agreement; 2) Establishing Conflict Free Supply Chains in Eastern DRC and Reducing the Vulnerability of Artisanal, an economic growth & trade broad agency agreement; 3) Small-Scale Mining Communities to Conflict, an economic growth & trade broad agency agreement.
