POP  brought patients  to Mercy Children's Hospital in St. Louis for free surgery and intensive physical therapy. Pictured patients from the Dominican Republic, Yonalfrin (12) with severe scoliosis and Perla (14)  recovering post gunshot wound, with their mothers. Families met in St. Louis and have become friends.

With Your Help We Expanded!

Thanks to you, our dedicated supporters, POP has helped change the lives of more than 122 children in impoverished communities suffering from orthopedic conditions. Sixty four patients have been operated on by local surgeons using techniques we taught them. Starting this year, POP saw tremendous growth as a mission group and as an organization.

This year we took two mission trips for the very first time. While we will continue to treat patients with scoliosis (curved spine), there are children suffering from other orthopedic conditions who need our help which we will treat as well. Our next mission trip is July 8-16th, 2017 in Santiago, Dominican Republic. Some of our  recent accomplishments include:
  1. Expansion of Sponsorship Programs-POP has plans to bring 4 children  from the Dominican Republic to St. Louis for medical or surgical care. We have recently brought Perla (pictured) who sustained a gunshot wound to St. Louis Mercy Children's hospital for intensive Physical Therapy. It is the first time we have brought a patient here for therapy alone. In addition we brought Yonalfrin a 12 year old boy with severe scoliosis secondary to another medical condition here for surgery by our head orthopedic surgeon Dr. Enrico Stazzone.  Both children are doing well.
  2. Expansion of Collaboration- Last year we collaborated with the World Pediatric Project to bring our patient a 12 year old orphan Lisbeth G. here for scoliosis surgery. This year  again, we have collaborated with the World Pediatric Project, Mercy Hospital and  the Ronald McDonald House by bringing patients here to St. Louis. We are thankful for the good will these children have received from these wonderful organizations.
  3. Increased Equipment Procurement -The POP team renovated the cast room in the Children's hospital in Santiago, Dominican Republic. The hospital is now able to use the medical equipment, sinks and casting material that was donated. We also donated many other medical supplies such as walkers, wheelchairs, cast material and saws.
  4. Education programs continue to grow: More patients have been treated and more surgeons, doctors and nurses have been trained since our education initiative.
  5. Expanded our Mission trips: We took 2 trips in one year!
Please consider making a secure and tax-deductible donation today. Our donation site lets you easily set up recurring donations, as well as see if your company will match your donation.

With gratitude,
