Many books have been written on the subject of choir training but it is generally agreed that no choir can develop beyond the skill level of their own conductor. Choral leadership involves a complex range of skills from the purely technical (musical knowledge, conducting gesture etc.) to communication and people management, and these all need to be honed on a regular basis.
So, why not send your choir director to Choral Connect ’17?
New Zealand’s national conference for choir directors is for conductors at all levels – from those just beginning to the highly experienced – and takes place in Auckland from 8-11 July this year. For a relatively modest investment, your conductor will receive five days of concentrated training and return to your own choir inspired and reinvigorated, armed with new choral skills and fresh ideas.
At Choral Connect, conductors will receive:
training from leading international and NZ choral and composing experts
one-on-one coaching on their own conducting
time to observe, participate and reflect on their own practice
ideas from other conductors and satisfying choral experiences
