Hello friend,

It's the month where we start acclimating to cold weather and accept that fleece-lined leggings or thermal underwear are going under every outfit worn. I'm constantly wearing plaid skirts and berets; gloves are getting lost one a time; I'm waking up before sunrise (because it's rising so crazy late); we're all letting house plants live in terror as the windows grow colder and we neglect to move them every day; and a few of us are reluctantly switching back to hot coffee in lieu of iced drinks.

The biggest news of my life right now, though, is that WE BOUGHT A HOUSE YESTERDAY! It's been months of looking and mortgage talk and inspections, but my boyfriend Sam and I just closed on the house and we can finally call it ours. I'm so excited to be sharing a house with Sam and our cat, Pickles. I'm excited to paint and decorate and walk around barefoot in our very own backyard (not immediately, I suppose, for fear of frostbite) but there's a fireplace for the winter and big windows and I'll be posting plenty about renovations on instagram and on my blog if you'd like to follow along. My second bit of news is that I have my Halloween costume together and I'm officially going as Velma Dinkley. It's much less exciting news than the purchase of a new home, but I wanted to tell you nonetheless.

I also wanted to share a few things I've been loving lately. Everything from the inspiring world of Wes Anderson to upbeat moving-music to outdoor-inspired home goods.

So thank you for reading, dear friend. I have some links I'd like to share with you.

THINGS I'VE FOUND AROUND THE INTERNET

FOR YOUR EYES

Photographer Hanna Lenz has been photographing Else in her home for three years. These portraits of 97 year old Else show her in her beautiful home cleaning, reading, and being independent. They made me fall in love with her a bit. "I am happy for the life I had, but I miss the times where my body still allowed me to do what I want." I love this little summary of the photo series.

FOR YOUR EARS

Admittedly, usually my cold weather music choices tends to be somber, but this will be a month of packing boxes, moving furniture, and possible crazed box-opening because I never label boxes as thoroughly as I should, so I thought we could all use a few pop songs to get us through the storm.
  1. Australia - The Shins
  2. Come Monday Night - Emily Browning
  3. Put Your Number in my Phone - Ariel Pink
  4. The Stars of Track and Field - Belle & Sebastian
  5. French Navy - Camera Obscura
  6. Ça Pourrait Changer - Brigitte Bardot
  7. Bunny in a Bunny Suit - Simone White
  8. You or Your Memory - Mountain Goats

FOR ARTS SAKE

Wes Anderson's color palette is all I aspire to in the fall. Hi use of warm colors (browns, yellows, reds, soft pinks) plus the visuals throughout the entire movie Fantastic Mr. Fox feel like autumn at it's best. His films are the source of inspiration for so many beautiful things, too. I love this Moonrise Kingdom inspired fashion shoot, this paper-crafted opening credits video of The Grand Budapest Hotel, and this compilation of POV and vehicles of various Wes Anderson films.

FOR YOUR CLOSET & HOME

For the sake of simplicity, I own two cardigans and 3 sweatshirts. I adore them and you'll see me wearing them constantly this winter. This sweater is a perfect basic sweatshirt for men, but I wanted to mention this company because every product from Best Made Co. is so well designed and I just love the company and what they stand for. I also bought this first-aid kit for my car and I've been dreaming of owning a set of their enamelware for our new kitchen.

AND LATELY ON THE BLOG

- WORKSHOP RECAP -

My best friend and talented photographer Sara and I are doing a wedding photography workshop in Baltimore for next month so I wanted to share a recap of our last workshop together.

- MARY and KYLE -

"I hope you like pizza and ice cream" Mary said as she turned back to gaze at the camera. This little snippet of perfection set the stage for this farm wedding.
