"I've been thinking a lot about universes. Alternate realities and lives I could've lived.

To have a life in a small town where I work hard and play harder, not thinking about work the minute I clock out. A place where I do yoga in a wood paneled, 70s shag carpet living room and thrift for all my furniture, see my friends bands play and watch Sam do open mic nights.

Or alternately, a life where I live in a tall building in New York. A reasonable flat still, but I'm often too caught up in work and blogging to evaluate my feelings or belly laugh with friends.

But then, I love my reality. Where I get work done and meditate, watch tv with Sam and skim the pool while the water flickers and glitters from the shadows, moving as the leaves blow in the wind.

I wonder if any of my alternate selves imagines this life with a tinge of jealousy - one with simplicity and solace.

Today was a hot day; but a good one."

THINGS I'VE FOUND AROUND THE INTERNET

FOR YOUR EYES

I've never loved group photos more than this. Japanese artist Osamu Yokohama did a hauntingly beautiful photo series of girls in gangs in the wilderness. Just your normal faceless portraits of identically dressed girls.

FOR SHORT HAIR

I love how popular the bob has gotten lately. I've had shorter hair for the past 2 years, but I'm ready to be a mermaid again. I'm back to taking pre-natal vitamins, doing weekly rinses of my hair with apple cider vinegar, and being less of an all around jerk to my hair to get it to grow. In the meantime, this volumized ponytail for short hair by blogger Keiko Lynn is treating my bob right.

FOR YOUR MOUTH

It's summertime and I feel like I'm out on cold coffee drinks because I can't do caffeine. It makes me jittery + heart palpitations + I really don't need any more energy. Normally, I'm intimidated by recipes with more than a few ingredients, but this dairy free & caffeine free cold brew cacao latte deserves a chance, I think. (Also, the recipe mentioned it could be good with rum, which I'm not against).

FOR LOVE OF FILM

There's a growing list of rom-coms I'm not embarrassed to rave about (When Harry Met Sally is my all time favorite movie and I'm not ashamed) and I've noticed that Zoe Kazan is in four of them so I wanted to give her some love this month.  (click through for trailers)
  1. The Pretty One
  2. What If
  3. In Your Eyes
  4. Ruby Sparks
Double bonus - Zoe Kazan wrote "Ruby Sparks" and her boyfriend, the awesome Paul Dano, plays the lead male.

LAURA AND GREG - FOREVER FOR SURE

AND LATELY ON THE BLOG

- A MATERNITY SESSION -

These two amazing people and I drove around to see some overlooks, walk through wooded areas, and made our way down to the Hudson River for photos on a dock. This is how our day went.

- HILLARY & PHILIP -

I love to write, but I can't describe how it truly feels to walk on warm sand, to be surrounded by love as the orange glow of sunset washes over the world. On some days, photos say it better.
