We are so thankful for the community we have with whom to walk through life. In 2019 we faced the heartache of the unexpected death of our dear friend and co-worker, Peter Domikar, who collapsed while playing soccer. Our church community has since been walking with his wife and children through the hard months and years that have followed, and have been so encouraged as we have cried, prayed, worked, and planned alongside them.
Pictured here is part of that church community at a memorial service on the soccer field where Peter "took off" to Heaven. We sang a number of Pete's favorite worship songs, shared testimonies of God's presence and work in the family's life, and prayed over each member of the family which was left behind. Peter's eldest brother followed him in death only 9 months later, but he gave his life to Jesus shortly before his death. Many people had shared the Word with him during the grieving period for Peter. God's Word doesn't return void.
One of our amazing artist friends, Joel Vanderduys, created this beautiful painting for the family. Follow his link to see more of his amazing art. There was also a graveside visit to install a grave marker.
By God's grace the family is continuing on. Members in our church have taken the kids out for going-back-to-school shopping trips, taught them to drive a go-cart, made time to pray, cry, pray, laugh and worship, helped with household fix-it projects, worked on a budget with Tannie, given gifts to help make ends meet, worked in the carrot garden to build supplemental income, been Uncle and Aunty figures to help fill some of the missing hole, made home clinic check-ups, had overnight prayer parties, done family devotions together, sat at the graveside together... the list goes on. Christopher is Tannie's manager at Aviation and the children are involved in our church's youth programs.
