Peril in Paradise
The land and people of PNG, with their amazing beauty, reflect their Creator well. But like in our home country, there is both light and darkness, integrity and corruption, safety and danger.  This past weekend a small team and I (Christopher) drove about 20 miles out into the mountains to minister alongside a long-time friend, a pastor to several family lines who have been through a terrible season.  That season has brought death, suspected sorcery, fighting, and the destruction of many, many houses and possessions.  Our pastor friend and his team have been working with both sides of the conflict towards a cease-fire, peace talks, repentance, and reconciliation.
What beauty to enjoy on a morning jog.
We met with several groups of people on our drive out, hearing some of the struggles they've been through, sharing short devotionals or testimonies with them, and praying God's blessings upon them as they walk this journey.

We connected with people of all ages before showing a video produced here in Papua New Guinea called "Ples i Bagarap", translated loosely as "The village is destroyed".  It is a video detailing the sin and destruction that sorcery and witch-hunts unleash, and some of the collateral damage that comes up, especially the suffering inflicted upon the women and children.
Over 500 people attended the evening showing and it was well received.  Thank you for those who prayed for this event.  Our travel out and back was smooth, with beautiful weather the entire weekend and fruitful conversations from start to finish.  Each member on the team was able to share, teach, or preach and has been invited to come back for more ministry.
Please keep these communities and leaders in your prayers as the process continues for repentance, reconcilliation, and rebuilding of hearts, homes and relationships.  Because of this trip, the door has been opened for further trips to conduct similar showings of the movie and possibly conduct some Trauma Healing workshops and Culture Meets Scripture workshops.
