What an amazing year we've had!

Dear OCC Families,

Another season has come to a close and another season is ready to begin!

I'm remembering the outreach that OCC has done in our communities this year: Jim Brickman Concert in Portland, Synergy and SCG at the Nutcracker Remix Dance, OCC HS School Groups at the Oakway Mall Treelighting, Outburst at the Eugene Library, JAS choirs at several schools for their tour, Outburst at several schools for their tour, SCG and Synergy at several gigs during the holidays and several schools on their recruiting tour, Girlchoir at the Nativity Scene show, the Boychoir at FUMC for their worship on June 19!  OCC is reaching out to the our surrounding communities to share their love of music!

OCC has had some memorable performances this year: Starting out so strong with our new Prelude Choir in the Fall, starting Noteworthy with our awesome student directors, keeping our variety of excellent choral music in our Girlchoir and Boychoir to create well rounded singers, creating a great showing from Synergy and Some Cools Guys at the ICHSA and winning , best vocalist, choreography and vocal percussionist, SFZ participating in A Cappella in Albany, Outburst showing off some great arrangements and soloists in our concerts, JAS choirs blossoming and becoming those wise choristers we so much enjoy hearing grow and excel in singing excellence becoming the leaders of tomorrow...OCC has much to be proud of!

FUN was had this year in OCC! Overnights, parties, trips to San Francisco, Seattle, Bend, Portland to see Pentatonix and of course the awesome Family Fun Center trip were all great bonding musical experiences that made memories that will last a lifetime!  Thanks to our directors, board and parent helpers that work so hard to make this organization's singers the example of the ambassadors of harmony to the world that they are! So proud to be a part!

She and her husband Josh Lenhardt, continue to live, work, and raise their 2 year old son Brendan and daughter Kylie (due in July), in the amazing place where they both grew up. Megan grew up performing and singing in her church and school choirs and also performed in many Rose Children's Theatre productions. Megan has always had a passion for music and performing and loves working with kids in the community to help inspire them to follow their passions and pursue their dreams.

-What's your favorite past time?
I love spending time with my amazing family! I have a wonderful husband, our 2 year old son Brendan, and our daughter on the way Kylie, due this summer! Not only that but our entire immediate family is in town as well and I feel so fortunate to get to see them so often. We love to play board games, watch movies, go on walks with our two golden retrievers, Tucker & Bo, camp, float the river and on occasion, sing karaoke :) When I'm not spending time with them, I enjoy crafting. I love creating things with my hands, whether that be sewing, crafting new decor for our home, or making a custom chalkboard for my Etsy shop, I always love & need to be creating. It keeps me going!

-What was one of your favorite songs as a teen?
I've always had a very eclectic taste in music my whole life and my teenage years weren't any different. I was a cheerleader and on dance team, so I performed to a lot of hip hop & pop music, but I enjoyed listening to artists like Jack Johnson, Jason Mraz and Gavin Degraw while driving my car in high school. I even went through a big country music phase while dating my high school boyfriend!  However, I have to say the song that stands out the most is "Hallelujah" by Jeff Buckley. I recall having that song on repeat quite often in my angsty teen years ;)

-Favorite Restaurant? I love Turtles and their amazing salads! But I could also eat Cafe Yumm every day 😁

-What is one of your favorite singers? Sara Bareilles, hands down. I've loved her since before she got big and am even more obsessed with everything she has been doing these days, from her most recent album to the music she did for Waitress. She is a goddess and I wish I could be her.

-How did you get interested in music and choir? I've been in choir since I was 4. My mom tells me I showed interest in music & performing from a very young age so she got me involved in our church's Cherub Choir.

-Who is your favorite composer? Well, I grew up on Disney, so I'm going to have to say Alan Menken for every masterpiece he did, but especially "Part of Your World" from The Little Mermaid :)  Also, Lin-Manuel Miranda is a genius and a half for creating Hamilton.

-What would be the greatest performance of your life? My greatest performance ever was a tie actually. It was the competition set that Divisi took to both semi-finals and finals in 2010. We performed our set at semi-finals and collectively left the stage and immediately burst into tears because of how amazing we felt about it. It's an incredible feeling to know that you left everything you have out on stage. Your energy, your passion, your heart and your soul.

We then took that same set to New York City for Finals and I was able to perform with my 13 best friends on the stage at Lincoln Center! Such an unforgettable experience and one I will cherish forever.

- What is one of your favorite moments with OCC? My favorite moment, so far, would have to be watching my girls in Synergy perform their set at the International Championship of High School A Cappella Semi-Finals this year. They had such a powerful set with such an important message and they absolutely killed it! They got the only standing ovation that night and I could not have been more proud of them!

- Any closing thoughts? I feel so lucky to get to do what I do! Working for OCC and directing these high schoolers is what brings me some of the most joy in life, outside of being a wife & mother, and I can't wait to continue to do it and watch the program continue to grow and change!
