Our choirs are sounding fantastic already!

Rehearsals are off to a great start!
Looking forward to our first concert on October 17th!

Dear Oregon Children's Choir Families,

OCC has many members with diverse gifts: they play sports, they are great students, they are involved in community activities such as service to others, religious groups, advocate groups, they are on debate teams, they do scouts, they do theater and band, they make time for friends and family. They are BUSY. So why do they make time for Music and singing in their lives with OCC? They know that music can be more than learning a song or two. They know how music can positively affect their and other’s lives around them.

Some great reasons why it's so important to make music a part of your life:

“Singing changes your brain. Singing improves your mood and even clears your sinuses!”

“Group singing has been scientifically proven to lower stress, relieve anxiety, and elevate endorphins.”

So look at your choristers schedule and make getting to choir a priority all year to make their life better all around! Looking forward to seeing you all at our first concert on October 17th at 1:30pm at First United Methodist Church!

Music touches us in the soul, where words alone can’t. Sing on!

Musically yours,

Dody Hansen
Executive Director

"The only thing better than singing is more singing." ~ Ella Fitzgerald

The OCC Board and Staff have been working hard on developing the new OCC Mission Statement and Goals, and here are our results:

The mission of Oregon Children’s Choir is to nurture and educate the youth of today through choral and vocal music education.

The Oregon Children’s Choir’s overarching goals are:

To provide a healthy environment where young people are empowered and instilled with the ideals of musical teamwork.

To share nurturing and creative choral experiences with children and young adults, developing their self-esteem.

To create opportunities for children and young adults to serve our community using choral repertoire from different cultures and people.

To present diverse, challenging and appropriate choral experiences for children and young adults of all abilities, backgrounds and ages.

To prepare it’s choristers to become musically and vocally diverse artists, patrons, and leaders in the musical world of tomorrow.

Oregon Children’s Choir is a choral organization where fellowship, learning, and striving for excellence encourage all of our choristers to become ambassadors of harmony within our community and into the world beyond.
