Team #271's  Dedicated Volunteer (aka Sworn Volunteer)

Each team that runs in the B2V must have a "Dedicated Volunteer."

We would not be allowed to participate if we didn't have one. Mike Young (WHD-Retired) stepped up to the challenge!


Getting to know Mike Young.........

Michael "Mike"  Young retired as District Director of the Jacksonville, Florida District Office of the Wage and Hour Division in January 2014.  He began his career in Roanoke, Virginia in June 1978, having been hired by former Atlanta Regional Administrator Alfred “Hap” Perry. 

Mike also worked in the Atlanta District Office before transferring to the Honolulu Area Office in 1982.  In April 1998, he was selected to be the District Director of the Jacksonville DO. 

He currently lives in Jacksonville with his wife, Joy.  His daughter, Brianna, is a Wage and Hour Investigator in the Tampa, FL District Office.  His son Matthew, recently completed his enlistment in the U.S. Air Force and is now studying engineering in Ogden, Utah.
