Michaelle Wormley, FAICP a Houston-based planner, has been inducted into the 53-member Class of 2022 College of Fellows of the American Institute of Certified Planners. As executive director of WOMAN, Inc., Ms. Wormly has been responsible for providing housing for more than 1000 individuals. She implements a vision that incorporates a comprehensive approach to affordable housing in that the three flagship developments that she has spearheaded also include a social services component. This comprehensive approach has enabled residents of WOMAN Inc. developments to achieve goals related to wealth-building and economic self-sufficiency.
Michaelle has made a significant difference in the Houston region by serving a population that has been largely neglected and by placing developments in locations that are attractive to businesses. The outcome is that a largely neglected cohort is afforded “dignified housing,” supportive services, and employment at nearby businesses.
Induction to the AICP College of Fellows is the highest honor the American Institute of Certified Planners bestows upon a member. In receiving this honor, Ms. Wormley joins nine other living and deceased inductees from Houston --- Gary Mitchell, Patricia Knudson Joiner, Mary Lou Henry, Vernon Henry, Sara Jane White, Jeffrey Taebel, Bruce Race, Shafik Rifaat, and Roberta Burroughs.
