Connecting Our Community

March 2016

Working Together for Safety

Along with Hayden Island and Bridgeton neighborhoods, East Columbia has experienced several burglaries (or attempts) in the last few months. Thanks to social media and neighbors working together, news of the incidents spread quickly and residents helped identify one of the case suspects and coordinate with law enforcement for further action. Great job!

We must stay vigilant and remain alert for suspicious activity! If someone or something seems unusual, spread the word by talking with neighbors, using our social media site Nextdoor, and/or contacting local authorities. The City of Portland has great resources on crime prevention as well as contact information.

Join Nextdoor to find out about neighborhood events and receive alerts.

Neighborhood Soil and Air Pollution Resource

Lisa Latin, a Faloma Road neighbor, has volunteered to track news about air and soil pollution for East Columbia  She is an excellent point of contact if you have questions (she is not a technical expert and will not  hold regular committee meetings). Lisa can be reached by email at or via NextDoor.
