BIKI NEWS: NOVEMBER 2020
In our first 3 years of service, over 275,000 individuals took more than 3.1 million Biki trips. That's a lot of pedaling! We recently conducted a member survey to look at ridership data and trends and how they've evolved since Biki's launch in June 2017. Here are a few key takeaways:
RESIDENTS RIDE MORE!
In Biki's first year of service (June '17 - June '18), just over half of all trips were taken by riders with Oahu zip codes. The jump to 72% is likely due to several factors including our expansion to more residential areas, increased awareness of our low kamaʻāina rates, and the construction of more bike lanes.
WHY DO BIKI MEMBERS RIDE?
Your reasons for riding remained relatively on par with our May 2018 survey except for the Exercise / Fitness category, which jumped from 56% to 79%. We think COVID-19 may have played a role in this increase as more riders look to Biki as a safe and socially-distant alternative to gyms and exercise classes amidst the pandemic.
BIKI IMPACTS
How has Biki changed your daily habits? Survey respondents have observed numerous health and economic benefits since signing up for their Biki memberships. This holiday season, consider giving a Biki e-certificate to a friend or family member so they can start experiencing some of these valuable benefits.
TRENDS
The most popular Biki Stop is #321 in Waikiki on Seaside & Kalakaua. Last year, more than 49,000 trips started or ended at this station alone!  The runners up are:
2. #218 Queen & Kamakee (Whole Foods)
3. #231 Kapiolani & Keeaumoku (Target)
4. #236 Piikoi & Waimanu (KHON across from Ala Moana Center)
5. #303 Kalakaua & Niu (7/11 across from Waikiki Brewing Company)

The most popular day and time to ride is Friday between 3pm - 4pm
Mahalo to Secure Bike Share (Biki's operators) for conducting the survey, and for all the Biki members who provided feedback to help us make Biki even better. Keep an eye out for more data and Biki facts in future newsletters.
BIKI ON TV!
In the Netflix show Somebody Feed Phil, host Phil Rosenthal (Everybody Loves Raymond creator) experiences local cuisine and things to do in popular foodie destinations across the globe. He journeyed to Hawaii in the most recent season to enjoy poke, huli huli chicken, poi and a Biki ride! Watch Season 4 on Netflix

BIKI MEMBER OF THE MONTH
Name & Membership: Tatia-Jenay M., Voyager Plan

"During quarantine, Biki has been an inexpensive and convenient way to get exercise. I ride to and from work, to see my relatives, and to explore the new bike paths recently installed around town."

Biki Tip: After you finish your ride and dock your bike, try to pull it out again just to make extra sure it’s locked securely. If it comes out, use more force until you see the green light.
