Note that the entire Work Programme ends in 2020, and there is considerable money left to be distributed. If you have been planning an application, we recommend that you consider submitting it before the end of the Work Programme.

At Research Services we help you to find calls for proposals, give advice during the application phase, project budgeting and give help and advice with reporting. We are happy to give presentations on H2020 for your department or research group. We also arrange seminars and workshops on H2020 sub-programs, they will be posted on our webpage and in this newsletter.

Invitation to ERC Advanced Grants workshop
The ERC Advanced Grants call for proposal 2019 will be launched on 21 May with deadline on 29 August 2019. Research Services invites Lund University researchers interested in ERC Advanced Grants to a workshop on 11 April. The workshop is run by Yellow Research, a consultancy firm with extensive experience in running ERC workshops and in pre-submission review of ERC Grants.
Applicants for the ERC Advanced Grants are established research leaders and are expected to be active researchers who have a track-record of significant research achievements in the last 10 years.
The objective of the workshop is to provide participants with a good understanding of:
- the evaluation criteria and how to analyze them;
- an excellent PI according to the reviewers of the different domains;
- how to write a high-risk/high-gain research proposal considering panel specifics and type of project.
The workshop will take place on Thursday 11 April, between 8.30 and 12.30.
Place: Hörsalen, Pufendorfinstitutet, Biskopsgatan 3, Lund
The workshop will be held in English. Attendance is free of charge.
Individual consultations
A limited number of individual consultations will be offered to Lund University researchers who have participated in the ERC Advanced Grants workshop and who are planning to submit a proposal to the ERC Advanced Grants call 2019. The consultations take place on 11 April after the workshop.
In order to get an individual consultation, you must submit a short project synopsis, CV and track record (2 pages each, in total max 6 pages) no later than 3 April at 12.00. Send the material as a word file named: Surname_name_ERCAdG_Lund to teresia.rindefjall@fs.lu.se

Invitation to support programme for ERC Starting Grants applicants in the upcoming 2020 call
ERC Starting Grants workshop
Research Services invites you to our ERC Starting Grants workshop on 20 May. The workshop is open to researchers who are planning to apply for an ERC Starting Grant (StG) with Lund University as their host institution. The workshop is run by Yellow Research, a consultancy firm with extensive experience in running ERC workshops and in pre-submission review of ERC Grants. It will provide participants with an in-depth overview and practical information on the ERC Starting Grant scheme. Participants should gain a deeper understanding of the proposal format and the key issues relating to planning, writing and costing a proposal.
You are welcome to register for this workshop if you are planning to apply for an ERC StG in the next call (call 2020), or if you are interested in applying for an ERC grant in the future. Attendance is free of charge, and lunch is included. The workshop will be held in English.

Extra session and training camp for ERC Starting Grants
In addition to the ERC workshop on 20 May, Research Services will arrange two connected events with the aim of giving ERC StG applicants an extra boost in the 2020 call. You are welcome to register for these activities if you are planning to apply for an ERC Starting Grant in the 2020 call.
On 28 May we have arranged an extra session to help you kick-start your proposal writing, and to receive feedback on your CV/Track Record. The session is in preparation for the ERC training camp in August. In order to attend this session on 28 May, you must submit a short project synopsis, CV and track record (2 pages each, in total max 6 pages) by 23 May at 12:00. Details on where to submit this material will be included in your confirmation email for attendance at the extra session by the end of April.
On 20-21 August there will be a two-day training camp where you can receive valuable information from ERC evaluators and ERC grantees, as well as get feedback on your draft proposal. To attend this training camp, you must provide a draft proposal (section B1 of the application, including CV and Track Record) by 10 August. Submission details will be included in your confirmation email before the summer. Please note that you may only attend the ERC training camp once.

MSCA activities 2019 at Lund University
- 19 March: Information meeting with National Contact Point Erik Litborn, Vinnova, about Innovative Training Networks (ITN) and Individual fellowships (IF). Register here no later than 4 March
- May: Workshop in preparation for MSCA IF proposals for the 2019 call with deadline 11 September. The workshop is for proposals with Lund University as host organisation and is aimed at both the supervisor and the fellow. Note that at the deadline for the submission of applications, the fellow can have resided or carried out her main activity in the country of the host organisation for no more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the deadline. The Swedish Energy Agency
If you are planning a H2020 proposal with relevance for sustainable energy systems you may apply for a planning grant from the Swedish Energy Agency. This includes both collaborative projects (partner or coordinator), ERC proposals, Marie Curie Individual Fellowships etc. The application must be registered and received no later than six weeks before the deadline for the call.

Riksbankens Jubileumsfond support to Research initiation in Social Sciences and Humanities
This funding may potentially be used for setting up a consortia preparing for a Horizon 2020 proposal - organising different types of scientific meetings, such as conferences, seminars, and workshops and the creation of new research networks. Grants for research initiation may be applied for at any time during the year.

UK in Horizon 2020 - Situation after the UK Referendum
There are no changes for the UK participation in H2020 as long as UK is an EU member or for on-going projects. The UK treasury guarantees EU funding for UK researchers in ongoing projects beyond the exit date. For further information and updates, consult the Universities UK webpage.
Co-funded projects with India within Horizon 2020

STIAS Fellowships for Swedish researchers (all areas) Sydafrika
Stellenbosch Institute for Advanced Study STIAS i Sydafrika är ett fristående men med Stellenbosch University nära lierat forskningsinstitut vid vilket framstående forskare inbjuds att vistas 1-3 månader eller mer. Tanken är att i en stimulerande miljö få tid att ostört arbeta med sin egen forskning. Marianne och Marcus Wallenbergs stiftelse finansierar fellowships vid STIAS för svenska forskare. The Marcus Wallenberg Prize
The Prize is awarded to recognize, encourage and stimulate path-breaking scientific achievements which contribute significantly to broader knowledge and/or technical development within all subjects relevant to the forest-based sector all over the world. Nominations of candidates are accepted via an internet-form or by e-mail or mail, at any time of the year, and are considered by the Marcus Wallenberg Prize Selection Committee in a continuous process.

Romanusfonden: Bidrag till vetenskaplig forskning avseende uppfinnandets natur

Kostfonden
Kostfonden är en ideell insamlingsorganisation och anslår nu 1,5 miljoner till ett eller flera projekt som utvärderar kostbehandlingar vid metabolt syndrom och/eller relaterade problem/sjukdomar. Stiftelsen Svenska Lantbrukarnes Olycksfallsförsäkringsfond
SLO-fonden har till ändamål att verka för jordbrukets fromma genom att främja ändamålsenlig mekanisering och byggnadsverksamhet inom jord- och skogsbrukets områden med företräde för åtgärder till förbättrande av arbetsmiljön. Länsförsäkringars Forskningsfond
Stiftelsen Länsförsäkringsgruppens Forsknings- och Utvecklingsfond stödjer vetenskaplig forskning. Syftet med all forskning är att nå ny kunskap. Med ny kunskap vill vi förebygga och förstå skador, både skador som finns idag och skador som vi tror kommer finnas i framtiden. Forskning kan också hjälpa oss att försöka förstå hur samhällsutvecklingen kommer påverka framtiden. Svenska Akademien – Forskning i modern svenska
Svenska Akademien utlyser ett anslag på 120 000 kronor för år 2019 ur Stiftelsen Fonden för forskning i modern svenska och för svensk språkvård. Ansökan kan gälla något av följande områden:
- förändring i samtida svenskt språkbruk
- språkvård i ett mångspråkigt Sverige
- förhållandet mellan engelska och svenska inom olika samhällsområden
- svenska språket i IT-samhället
- språkvård och svenska i skolan.

Hjärnfonden
Hjärnfonden gör i år två extrautlysningar:
Alzheimers sjukdom. Alzheimerbidraget ger möjlighet till extra utdelning av medel till såväl grund- och preklinisk forskning, translationell och klinisk forskning samt vård- och omsorgsforskning. Alzheimerbidraget kan ge mellan 1-3 miljoner kr per år under tre år med möjlighet till ytterligare 2 års förlängning.

Hjärnfonden gör en ny satsning på stora forskningsområden där vi uppmanar forskare att bidra med förslag på forskningsprojekt där det i Sverige finns gap mellan finansiering och stora förväntade möjligheter till framgång. Forskare kan delta aktivt i denna satsning genom att skicka in ett Letter of intent (LOI) på två sidor som beskriver ett flerårigt projektförslag.

Stiftelsen för främjandet av ekonomisk forskning vid Lunds Universitet
The purpose of the foundation is to promote such economic research at Lund University that is of interest to industry and trade. afa Försäkring driver ett FoU program ”Att leva och arbeta med psykisk ohälsa” på uppdrag av Svenskt Näringsliv och LO, om orsaker till och åtgärder för rehabilitering och förebyggande av psykisk ohälsa hos arbetare i privat sektor.
Den här forskningssatsningen vill prioritera projekt, gärna på flervetenskaplig nivå, som kan bringa klarhet i de komplexa sambanden mellan de olika faktorer som påverkar den psykiska ohälsan hos arbetare i privat sektor. Skillnader mellan könen bör belysas. Den forskning som finansieras ska vara tillämpbar och kunna nyttiggöras i en nära framtid.

STINT- Stiftelsen för internationalisering av högre utbildning och forskning
Internationalisering av högre utbildning och forskning bygger främst på långsiktiga målmedvetna ansträngningar men ibland är det dock viktigt att kunna agera snabbt när tillfället ges.
