Russ Meyer (1922-2004) was known as The King of Sexploitation Cinema. During his career he directed films filled with campy humor, sly satire, and large-breasted actresses. Many of which went on to become cult classics.
Superwomen! Belted, buckled and booted!
FASTER PUSSYCAT! KILL! KILL! is one of Meyers' most well known and beloved films. Tura Satana, Haji and Lori Williams star as three go go dancers that try to scam a land owner out of a large sum of cash. Director John Waters has said it is "beyond a doubt, the best movie ever made."
Originally intended to be a straight forward sequel to the popular film Valley Of The Dolls (1967), Russ Meyer's BEYOND THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS was instead something truly unique and bizarre. Russ and his pal Roger Ebert (co-writer) took the basic premise of the Jacqueline Susann's original storyline and injected it with a total wild n' crazy, psychedelic, sex, drugs and rock n' roll atmosphere. Russ considered this film to be his most important.
