The SLJ Reviewer Connection

Building a stronger community for reviewers

Hello and welcome to the first e-newsletter exclusively for SLJ reviewers. This newsletter is not designed to market to you or sell you any products; it is simply a way for the editors of SLJ to communicate with our community of roughly 400 volunteer reviewers. It's a place to share information, receive feedback, and let you know about upcoming events and training opportunities.

Many reviewers have told us that they'd like more from the editorial staff of SLJ: better communication; training and education on reviewing and evaluation; social events and meet ups. We hear you! And this is our first major step in that direction.

Below you'll find a lightning-fast poll and some fun ideas for 2015. There's also a link to our brand new Best Books list. We hope you'll find some of your favorites in the mix.

If you'd rather opt out of this newsletter, simply click on the "unsubscribe from this list" link at the very bottom of this email. No hard feelings!

Sincerely,
Kiera Parrott
Editor, SLJ reviews

Four quick questions

Help us help you by filling out this quick feedback form

Heading to Chicago for ALA's Midwinter Meeting?

If so, Kiera and Luann Toth, managing editor for SLJ reviews, will be there. We are tentatively planning an informal meet up on Monday afternoon after the Youth Media Awards press conference. Email Kiera (kparrott@mediasourceinc.com) for more details.

"Meet the Reviewer"

We are looking for SLJ reviewers who'd be open and interested in being featured in the magazine and/or on slj.com. A monthly or bi-monthly "Meet the Reviewer" piece would feature several fun facts about an SLJ reviewer. It would also include a photograph (or an avatar if you're camera shy.)

If you are interested, please contact Kiera (kparrott@mediasourceinc.com) and we'll send you more information.

It is you, the reviewers, who make School Library Journal reviews so valuable and unique. Your careful reading, thoughtful critiques, and succinct evaluations help thousands of librarians across the country make decisions about which titles to add to their collections.

From the entire editorial staff of SLJ, we thank you and wish you a very happy holiday!
