Notes from the Science & Engineering Libraries

With finals nearing, we know you are looking for places to hold productive group study sessions. The Science and Engineering Library has two group study rooms that can be reserved. Both rooms feature:
  • large wall-mounted monitors that connect easily to laptops
  • two white boards
  • seating that can accommodate up to 10

  • Digital Centers Internship Program - Columbia University Libraries is looking for interesting graduate students to join us for the 2015/16 Academic Year! Students with a keen interest in digital scholarship will be recruited through a competitive process and will receive a stipend, as well as hands-on experience working with emerging digital practices within the digital centers Submit an application by May 29.
  • Historical Standards - Looking for historical standards? We have a trial for all historical content in the ASTM Digital Library. Feel free to browse the content and let us know if this is useful to you.
  • Labguru ELN Trial is still going! - Have you heard about Electronic Lab Notebooks and been curious about how they work? Labguru is offering Columbia labs an exclusive trial of their ELN software. Sign up for the free trial at and let us know what you think!
  • We are being talking about - Your librarians were highlighted in the March 2015 newsletter from IET.

Featured Resource

SpringerMaterials provides access to curated data on 3000+ physical and chemical properties of 250,000+ materials and chemical systems. Data sources currently include the Landolt-Börnstein New Series, the Linus Pauling Files and specialized databases on thermophysical properties, polymer thermodynamics, adsorption isotherms, and 32,000+ substance profiles.
